Hey, guys. I replaced my rabbits Timothy hay with alfalfa hay. He’s started Timothy Hay since I got him so at 2 months. He enjoyed it but I read that alfalfa hay is the most important aswell as alfalfa pellets for when they’re growing.. Problem is he DOES not like the alfalfa hay. He eats the alfalfa pellets but not the hay. I’m not sure what…[Read more]

You’re welcome!
So, lunging, growling, and nipping are all OK to allow, and are how she is communicating with him that she does NOT want to be mounted. BUT if those things tend to escalate to a fight quickly, then you should intervene. The main things to stop immediately are circling, hard biting, boxing, and chasing for more than a couple…[Read more]

Thank you so much for getting back to me and for all the suggestions. I’ll make the changes in the room (and you’re right Luna will not be a fan). I have lots of NIC cube grids as I’ve been using that for Mateo’s enclosure and got extra to create an outdoor space for them as well (which I’ll save to use as the neutral space in the future). I’ll…[Read more]

I get my second shot mid-May too!
Haha Oh Dorian! What a rascal!
Cooper has taken to nibbling on the edges of the built in book shelf around our fire place, so I’m off to the hardware store tomorrow to get something to protect it. No amount of ivory soap seems to deter him!

Sorry the news wasn’t as good as you’d hoped. 🙁
Are the teeth that grew really fast the ones opposite the missing teeth?
The only thing I can think of is that often in biology, things grow in response to pressure, or lack of pressure. If a tooth is missing its opposite, that sends a signal that the tooth should grow faster to try to meet the…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Bunny peeing frequently/sore hocks? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 3 months ago
One thing to note is if he is getting less veggies and less pellets, he is likely eating more hay. Hay is super drying and so when hay consumption goes up, so does water intake. Does this seem like the case?
With sore hocks, I think a required treatment is actually ensuring the flooring and space is facilitating healing. If mild means the callous…[Read more]

Hi! Recently my bunny has had to go through some stress (moving to a new home and having to pick him up twice a day to treat his sore hocks which he absolutely resists and hates). But I noticed that he’s been drinking and peeing a lot more too. I connected the dots and thought that maybe he is drinking/peeing too much due to stress, which is what…[Read more]

Hi Guys, so we went for a check up today to see how things are going and I had mixed news.
Good news
Top right molar has come through and Is starting to grow. Bottom right molar is also growing so hopefully they will meet.
Top left molar has not come through yet, bottom left molar is growing very slowly so hopefully the top one will erupt soon…[Read more] -

Happy May everyone! Plovers are great and can be hard to catch (as in see not actually catch them). I am not an avid birder, but do like watching them.
Congrats on vaccine completion @RabbitPam… I get my second shot mid month and can’t wait.
My day has been spent dealing with Dorian having learned how to move the fencing and sneak into areas…[Read more]

Thanks for sharing 🙂 I never knew about the salty coffee. I grew up in Germany and went to international school there, so lots of Turkish friends! So have a fondness for the food and not salted coffee. I also have a Turkish coffee shop near my house. One day I would love to go visit!

Yes, your other rabbit would have already been exposed. Symptoms usually show up within 9 days, with a normal quarantine period of 14 days recommended.
Please keep us updated on what your vet says.
sorry again for your loss. 🙁

Thanks for filling out the template!
Oh Luna, what a diva! A discerning lady for sure.
So, if you are up for it, I would recommend a change in their housing set-ups that will probably make things easier in the long run, although Luna I’m sure will express her displeasure.
If possible, I would split the bunny room in two, or build two pens…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Help bonding after fighting in the forum BONDING 5 years, 3 months ago
Hi there, welcome!
First of all don’t panic! It’s very normal for there to be little spats and fights during the bonding process. It’s important to try to prevent them, but it’s very hard to be perfect in my experience. If no bunny was injured, it’s ok to keep going with the process. If a bunny got a bad bite or an injury that needs medical…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic How to tell when they're bonded in the forum BONDING 5 years, 3 months ago
Sometimes it seems like one bun will get a little more brave over time, and they will still continue to work out the terms of their bond over a longer time period.
I think if they are immediately going right back to cuddling, then I would just keep an eye on things. If you start noticing more fur pulled, or things increasing in frequency, then…[Read more]

Hi there, thank you for filling out the template!
You are right in that you don’t want the process to be too stressful on your senior bun. I also have a senior bun and have bonded him twice now. Once to his first mate, then again to another when his first mate passed away. I also tried him in a quad but decided to stop because the two boys were…[Read more]

Hi everyone,
I have a 2 year old female dwarf/lion head (Luna) that’s been free roam in our home since we brought her home. We recently adopted a second rabbit, a one year old holland lop (Mateo). I have been trying to bond them but it has not been going well and I really need some help. I used the template I found on the forum to give as much i…[Read more]

My other rabbit would have already been exposed though right? We only had the two and they lived side by side but not together. But could touch noses and pull things through to the other side. We dont have any other friends with rabbits so that’s not an issue. I will call the vet and see what she says. We already buried it cause my daughter was so…[Read more]

It has been found in Montana, but that is still a big jump. But then again the virus is moving very rapidly right now due to spring time (it basically jumped over Wyoming). Since you are inside, it is less likely. There are a lot of things that can cause sudden rabbit death though, unfortunately. But until you know for sure I would treat it as…[Read more]
