Hi All,
I’m absolutely at a loss with my rabbit’s current stasis episode, and looking for some guidance on where to go from here. My almost 5 year old Lionhead has been battling stasis for over a week now. She gradually slowed down eating over 2 or 3 days, and then went into full blown stasis. She’s had 3 setbacks over the last week where she…[Read more]

We have a Goffins cockatoo that loves country music, which I cannot stand. His previous home must have played it. Sometimes I let him listen for a few moments, but that is all I can stand!

I’m sorry your bun isn’t doing well. 🙁
If you can keep him warm, on top of the other things you have available, that will help keep him stable until you can get to the vet, because pain can cause rabbit’s temps to spike and then drop. You can wrap a warm water bottle in a towel and place it near him, so he can cuddle it if he wants.
Keep us…[Read more]

Also, sorry for the many many typos. I would fix them but I can’t seem to to find an edit button on my phone. So, I apologise. Honestly, I’m doing several things at once while trying to take care of this wee one. So again, pls excuse the typos.

Reminds me of my dog. When she was very old, she didn’t want to eat anything except for cooked chicken. Things don’t taste good when you’re old.

1 – Chewing is a very natural rabbit behavior, so it’s likely he would chew any liner you use. Someone recently posted a way to potentially overcome it with cord protectors: https://binkybunny.com/forums/topic/cord-protectors-to-make-rabbit-not-chew-pee-pad/
2 – Wood stove pellets are common and popular. I use it and it does not “clump”, but the…[Read more]

It wasn’t on purpose we found these bunnies in a box beside the rubbish in collection day. We found them mere moments before the lorry came. We took them in loved and cared for them and within a very short time less than a month and baby bunnies. I knew from the doe Violet she was going to drop. I was prepared. All went well. Until now. We have a…[Read more]

Recurrent gastric distress is of concern, as a healthy rabbit should not be experiencing it so often. Can you provide detail on what labs and assessments your vet has run specifically, as well as the vet’s expertise (ex. exotic)?
Sometimes recurrent gastric distress can come from an unagreeable diet– some rabbits have certain sensitivities. Can…[Read more]

Please note I made slight revisions to your topic. As a reminder, the topic of intentional breeding is prohibited on these forums.
I’m sorry to hear about what’s going on with one of your baby rabbits. Since our forums do not permit discussion of intentional breeding, the experience of our members (including myself) is quite limited. We will…[Read more]

1. I use puppy pads as a liner for my bunny’s litter box but he keeps chewing at them. Are there any other liners I can use that he wont chew through?
2. I’m afraid that the litter I use is not absorbent and the pellets clump up to the point that they feel like mud. I think it’s deterring my bunny from using the litter box. Is there litter that…[Read more]

The ingredients for the novomectin say: sterile solution containing 1% ivermectin, 40% glycerol formal, and propylene glycol q.s. ad 100%.
I believe that both of those other ingredients are fairly inert at the amounts that you would be giving, but the safest bet is to ring your vet and make sure they gave you the right medicine (because mistakes…[Read more]

Giving wet greens during breaks should be enough, especially if he is good about drinking once you get to your destination.
How long is your total travel time?

All he wants to do right now is lay on his tummy with legs stretched out. He obviously feels terrible. I haven’t tried giving him critical care yet, I will, but he’s not really willing to swallow what I put in his mouth. So this really hard. He did swallow the pain meds but not so much the simithicone.
ugh. I’m so worried. I though this would…[Read more]

Hi guys!
My bunny travels very well: he is not scared, eats his hay, poops and pees in his portable litter box… except for drinking water. Whenever we stop I would give him water in his bowl – he refuses it. He hates water bottles, so that is not an option. Once we arrive, he jumps after his water bowl and literally chugs it down. I bring…[Read more]

I know that ivermectin has oral (the paste) and injection (suspension) options but I didn’t think you could give the injectable one orally y’know? I thought there was a difference between the two and it seemed really weird to me. Seems like the equivalent of just swallowing insulin rather than injecting it which wouldn’t be effective. I’m a littl…[Read more]

My bunny has been having multiple GI episodes for the last 6 month. All I have handled on my own with simithicone, reglan and pain meds. This morning he only ate part of his banana portion(very rare for him, always means unwell) but got some semithicone then ate some greens. Now he’s lethargic, teeth grinding, tummy stretches…. Obviously feel…[Read more]

Not sure where you are HipHop, but in CA we used to see hooded orioles in the bottle brush trees with the humming birds. I think all orioles are nectar feeders? They are so pretty!

Aww poor guys. The recommendation about not cleaning is for at home, but I am guessing things are a little different when the vet does it.
So, I did a little reading on it and it looks like ivermectin is often given either orally or as an injectable for ear mites. Medirabbit (a trusted source) has more info and dosages, if you’d like to compare:…[Read more]
