Hello 😊 I have a singular rabbit and also think about getting another but I am unsure at the moment! I also work full time so Flo has full run of the kitchen with lots of toys, hay, water, blankets and I have a pet cam! She still rushes and zoomies about when i’m not there otherwise will lie down with her legs out and chill out 😊 she’s happy to s…[Read more]

I understand! And yes if the teeth are already somewhat loose that is a different story, as they would be much easier to remove.

DanaNM replied to the topic Rabbit giving off smell from groin after neuter in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 3 months ago
Right after neutering buns go through some crazy hormonal fluctuations and they can be VERY STINKY, but don’t worry, it should alls start calming down over the next few weeks. It can come from their scent glands, as well as poops and urine, ranging from a oniony to skunky smell. Once he’s healed up completely, you can take a look at his scent…[Read more]

Hi
I got my boy neutered 5 days ago and it’s healing well, I think it’s looking fine, like 2 empty bags and there’s some scabs.
He’s been eating well and everything the whole time and using the litterbox but sometimes i’ll notice a very strong, skunky odor from where he’s been.
Earlier he had been sleeping in the transport cage and I went to…[Read more]

Hi Dana
Thank you for replying.
Extraction definitely wouldn’t be a decision I make lightly and will only go through with it if the exotic specialist agrees with it.
Her molars are loose.. sort of. There is some give there but we are unsure how far down the tooth that goes, it may just be a weakness in the top half of her tooth or may go all…[Read more]

I did see a Cedar Waxwing several years ago, it was randomly in an outdoor mall parking area eating berries. I hadn’t seen anything like it so I had to look it up. My mom said she saw one in her backyard recently, but only once.
That would be nice to live near the beach or water for even more diversity!

Hi, I have two rabbits. Recently, I have found that they’ve been scratching more, especially around the ears and sometimes, it drives Theo to distraction and he starts digging like crazy and vigorously shaking his head which is very unlike him. I’ve checked his ears and there are some almost healed scabs. His fur is also a bit thinner than I…[Read more]

My bun gets offended if I try to pet him while he’s eating his veggies. He also hates being brushed.

That all sounds very good and normal!
I will add that I usually don’t include a litter box in bonding sessions until they are practically bonded. Sometimes they can get territorial over them, and you usually don’t really need one until the sessions get longer anyway. But that said it doesn’t sound like it caused a lot of problems, so that’s…[Read more]

So cute! I may have one of Elmer back when I first got him but I’ll have to dig for it. He used to squeeze in the litter corner litter pan and actually use it.

Its good to start letterbox training right away, but you cant expect her to be fully litter trained until after she’s been spayed. Its still good to teach her where pee and poop should go, but keep in mind that her marking behavior isn’t subject to any kind of free will on her part, so it can’t be disciplined away. You should still squeal and…[Read more]

In the mean time, is there any way I could prevent some of the hormonal behaviors or start litter training? Would it be redundant to start litter training now? She’s also been humping me pretty frequently, and I was wondering if there was any way to prevent that. She nips and scratches me.

Thank you for the kind words! I will have a talk with my vet. It’s comforting to know that deaths during spays a neuters are very uncommon, so I’ll talk to her and see how often it happens in her experience. I would hate to have her have to suffer something that could have been prevented.

So I was finally able to do a neutral date again to see how they acted with a gate between them and it went pretty well so a few days ago they had their first date without a gate between them, I think it overall went well. They seem to be having dominance issues which I’m sure is very normal, Thor tries to mount Snowball and she proceeds to run a…[Read more]
