Hazel replied to the topic Bunny is too thin in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 3 months ago
If he is allowed to graze outside, he could have picked up an internal parasite, which would explain why he can’t keep on weight.
So yes, he should be seen by a vet and checked for underlying health issues and tested for parasites.

Thank you so much for your kind words. Yes. Our bond was very strong. I took that little girl EVERYWHERE!!! She was by far my best friend!
I responded with this to the other comments. I wasn’t sure if others could see my replies… Sorry this response is so late and sorry my original post is full of errors. I have not been on in a while…[Read more]

Sorry this response is so late and sorry my original post is full of errors. I have not been on in a while. Thank you so much for your kind words. I had lost my first bunny, PJ just a few months before Raven’s death. I was extremely close with both bunnies. I cried and cried about the death of my first baby. I had gotten Raven knowing that…[Read more]

LuluRabbit started the topic Sub-cutaneous penicillin issues! in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 3 months ago
Theo again! He is as troublesome as he is cute…
My vet suspects he has bunny syphilis (he is balding on the chin and mite/fungal treatments and cultures were negative – vet says possibly he had it all along from his mom) and has given me sub-q penicillin. However, Theo bucks wildly and freaks out every time the needle pokes into him. We were…[Read more]

Thank you both.
I will defiantly call the vet on Monday. Just seems odd that this is all happening so soon after her Spay.

With it being close to her spay period, I wonder if there was a reaction to a blood draw or IV placed in that area of the ear. Blue/purple makes me think maybe there’s a bruise/hematoma developing there now. I imagine her scratching it would likely exacerbate it (like rubbing a bruised/irritated area) a bit. I don’t imagine it’s something that…[Read more]

Hi Rebecca, and welcome to Binkybunny! I’m glad this topic got you feeling better and you are on alert for potential changes. Since this is an old thread (i.e. 2011), I will lock it, as you will likely not get responses from the original posters. I do encourage you to create your own topic about your specific situation, if you’d like!

I found the same type of thing on my holland lop this morning but on her ear. She has been scratching at her ears and we are in the middle of treating her for ear mits (even though her vet said her ears looked perfectly clean and normal. Just treating her to be on the safe side). I panicked a little because I never would have guessed bunnies could…[Read more]
