kanin replied to the topic Bunny scared of new wood pellets? in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 3 months ago
If you don’t already, maybe try covering them with a layer of hay to make it softer for her feet. Plain wood pellets seem like they would be pretty uncomfortable to hop and step on.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Curled dew claws in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 3 months ago
They don’t look that bad to me. Like I said, they will sometimes get a bit of a hook on them. As long as they aren’t curving around in a circle to the point where they could grow into the skin, I think you’re OK. It is hard to cut those too. I usually have to do it by feel.

Since you’re talking about buns filling out, I was wonder what you think of Elmer? I found a picture from last year and didn’t realize how much he has filled out! Do you think he filled out or just gained weight? It may be too hard to tell. I am not sure his age so I’m looking for clues. The shelter said he was almost 3 last year when I got him,…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Found cool new hay at Tractor supply in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 3 months ago
You can find what they call botanical hay at different places. It’s usually a grass hay with some herbs or legumes mixed in. Most bunnies seem to like it.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Help! I think our bunny may have ear mites in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 3 months ago
Ear mites could come from contaminated bedding or hay, but I think that is less common. Factories don’t tend to be breeding grounds for ear mites. Mice, yes. Ear mites not so much because they need a host to survive. Depending on the temperature, they generally only last a few days off of a host.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Activity Change After Spay in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 3 months ago
She could be feeling the effects of hormonal changed caused by the spay. It seems boys will yo-yo more than girls, but that’s just what I’ve noticed on the forum. No idea if that is really true. I think as long as she is still eating and pooping well, it’s probably a bit premature to be concerned.

BZOO replied to the topic Necessary to Quarantine? in the forum BONDING 5 years, 3 months ago
Well, I heard that before with birds, rats, etc.
Personally, I’ve never done it. Yeah, it can’t hurt, but I think I’m a pretty good judge of whether or not the critters in question are healthy
It seems a bit pointless if YOU feel all animals are healthy. Go with your gut.
No one secludes a new puppy or kitten if they have others, so not q…[Read more]

Glad you got your answer. Know how frustrating the wait can be.
Seems all vets are VERY busy these days.
Bee-u-tee-ful bunny you got there.

anemone started the topic Changes in scent glands on spayed doe in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 3 months ago
Hello!
I have two Holland lops, both of whom are absolute sweethearts and the light of my life. However, I have recently noticed a change in my 6-year-old doe’s scent glands: she produces more wax than before, along with white goop, which is new. I clean and groom my bunnies regularly and their well-being is a priority of mine, so I’m always…[Read more]

Thanks, always makes me nervous.
Even more so now as there has been a LOT of pet related medical issues in the past few years.

I remember my bunny Masha used to “dig” in the corner of her cage. It was only one corner that she did it in, and I just wanted to know why she was doing it, or if she was just bored 🤣❤️

Ooh sounds fancy 🤣. I’ll have to look into that for our next rabbit :D. By the way, I read about Walter’s neuter on the 11th! Hope all goes well. 🍀❤️

It’s called botanical hay. It’s timothy with dried leaves and flowers. Boo seems to like. Put it in the pen, so Walter will get to try it later.
It’s DoMor so only available at TS, but if they like it, worth the drive.

BZOO started the topic Well, scheduled Walter's neuter in the forum THE LOUNGE 5 years, 3 months ago
Going with the shelter, price more agreeable to Hubby. They have their own vets and do rabbits often.
They were booked a few weeks out, as is everyone, so scheduled for the 11th.
Should give the two more time to get to know each other thru the cage.
