This was really helpful. Thank you!!
Do you think the critical care is causing loose stool? In combination with the medication maybe? I’m just not sure.

You can definitely do that. From my personal experience with one rabbit, it’s definitely possible for a healthy rabbit’s appetite to encompass both critical care and a good amount of hay and other things. When one of my rabbits was underweight, I was told to add critical care to his diet, so I gave him as much as he wanted in the morning (one…[Read more]

So if she is beginning to eat her regular diet, besides pellets, and is eating hay… do I begin to stop feeding as much critical care? To see if she will eat without it?

I’m sorry about what happened, but it’s great to hear she is recovering well!
It is a great sign that she is passing stool. Yes, the ideal is solid pieces, but passing something means the system is moving (i.e. not in stasis).
I would continue Critical Care until your rabbit shows a willingness to graze on hay as normal. As she eats more hay,…[Read more]

Hi! My rabbit recently went through a very serious episode of GI stasis that required surgery to remove an obstruction. Since then, she has been home for about a week and is recovering well.
She has been on critical care since she’s been home and has also had some very loose stool (almost diarrhea). I’ve consulted my vet, who is very exp…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Questionable Behaviour After Spay in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 3 months ago
As long as she is eating and drinking, peeing and pooping, I’d not worry to much. Rabbit behavior is to a great extent dependant on hormones -not exclusively sex hormones. A spay is a radical intervention hormone-wise, and it takes time for the rabbit to regain hormonal balance. This process is more marked in girl buns than in boys. It can take 6…[Read more]

That’s a good idea!! I’ve gotten to about 4 hour sessions but I’ll make sure to have them stay together longer for the rest of the week and then hopefully I’ll be able to do the 24/7 soon

I think if you have time to marathon in your new place, that sounds like a fine plan. I think doing side swaps every day or two sounds fine in terms of pre-bonding. Since they bonded relatively easily the first time (I think?) and never had a falling out really, you might find they re-bond very easily!
How do they behave towards each other…[Read more]

It sounds like you are making progress! They don’t sound bonded yet, but grooming and some cuddling is great. You’ll want to see all the aggression go away though. A little chase or nip is ok, but bonded pairs don’t usually growl or regularly pull fur.
I would go for some long sessions before 24/7, unless you have several days where you can…[Read more]

Thank you for that advice, I’ve been making sure to spin him around as best as I can instead of just pushing him away. Since the last update Thor will occasionally groom Snowball, they’ll also lay down together sometimes, I’m not really sure when they’re considered bonded and to stop keeping them together for only a few hours and to instead…[Read more]

Hi! I posted a little while ago about bonding my two and they bonded successfully when they were boarded for a few days while I was out of town. When I brought my two home, I found out my girl, Nova (2 y.o., F), fractured her jaw somehow and had to be separated from my boy, Pekoe (2.5 y.o., M), while she healed because she was on a Critical…[Read more]

OMG they make such a cute pair! Both are absolutely stunning ❤️ Bunny bonds are probably the cutest thing there is on Earth (other than the buns themselves ;))
