You are welcome! I’m sorry you are going through such a stressful situation with them. I would trust your gut. If you are thinking it’s not going to work, then go with that. I know it’s such a hard situation, and I’m sure you will come to a conclusion that is best for everyone, but for now I would take it one step a time.

    Two particular rabbits…[Read more]

Awww, bummer! But happy she got a home!

It can be a bit overwhelming with some rescues, but usually they just want to make sure you have appropriate housing and know about rabbit care (and will help you to get things in order if you don’t… which you do!), so don’t stress!

It could be. You just never know with bunnies sometimes! Now just watch him closely to see if it happens again. If it keeps appearing, then you should have a vet check it out. But yes, a nasal discharge would generally be around the nostrils. So it seems reasonable to assume this may be something else.

Totally agree with Wick. Pasteurella is not the only cause of URIs in rabbits. The good news is that Baytril is a broad-spectrum bacteria that should take care of the problem regardless. If whatever it is happens to be resistant, then don’t give up. There are other antibiotics that can be tried. And yes, treatment often needs to last longer than…[Read more]

Pasteurella is one of many types of bacteria which can cause a URI (upper respiratory infection) in rabbits. Many URIs are very much treatable because we have access to antibiotics that will kill the culprit. Yes, pasteurella can sometimes be chronic, but again, not every sneezing rabbit is linked back to that particular bacteria and can be…[Read more]

As long as it’s not a medical-related reason that needs to be addressed, I think it’s fine for a rabbit to be hesitant or avoidant of particular foods given they have a well-rounded diet without it. For example, one of my rabbits, Fable, is highly suspicious of any new food, so it is hard to get variety for her. She often overlooks food, but I’m…[Read more]

So I went to the vet today, and the doctor told me my rabbit has pasteurellosis, he explain to me what it was but I kinda forgot some of the information, and he give antibiotic oral baytril and the other was some probiotics. He has discharge in he’s eyes and sneezing a lot but pooping, eating and other is all normal. I just want to know if s…[Read more]

Don’t freak out in the meantime, it’s probably fine! But with the concerns about her eating it’s better safe than sorry!

OMG – parasites?? Okay, I think I’m going to try and bring her in tomorrow. I really don’t want this to get scarier and worse than it is, and I’m already worried for her. I’ll let everyone know how the appointment goes ♥

I also wanted to say DanaNM, I’m sorry to hear about that bond that broke. That sounds horrendously stressful on all involved. It’s never nice to see the buns hurt and feel helpless. I’m glad things worked out in the end for you.

My bun isnot overly fond of banana, and tbh, it’s not a problem. Banana is very high in simple sugars, and rabbits do better without sugar. Fruit should always be given very sparingly, because sugar disrupts the microbial balance in the cecum, and can cause overgrowth of the “wrong” microbes.

That said, buns often need to be presented with new…[Read more]

Thanks for your reply, DanaNM… 😭😭 You’ve been so helpful throughout the last few months, I can’t say how much I appreciate it.

My boyfriend wants to try and rebond but I truly don’t think it’s either doable or indeed fair to either of them, but especially Tony.

We kept them in the same room but one in a pen, switching around, for the last…[Read more]

If you can’t confirm that she’s eating then she should go to a vet asap… Even a non-rabbit vet can at least prescribe stasis medication like cisapeide and metacam for you to administer if she isn’t eating!

Yes, all her poops are normal – as seen in the photos above. Her weight is normal too, but she hasn’t drank much water today, and her water bowl is still full. A lot of the time she spills her bowl, so I never really know if she drinks it all. I’m not sure if I should just get her into the vet (non rabbit-savvy) or if I should wait 1 or 2 weeks…[Read more]
