Glad he is doing better!
If it was just a single random cecotrope left behind, I wouldn’t worry too much about it (esp if he ate it once you offered it). If it starts to be a more regular occurrence it could be that he’s producing extras, or possibly having trouble getting to them (but he’s a bit young for arthritis).

For syringe feeding, you can grind up pellets into a powder and mix with water to be about the consistency of pancake batter. There are also recovery foods you can get that are easier to use as they are finely milled and formulated for sick buns.

I agree. Until they are vaccinated, I wouldn’t take them outside at all if you are in an outbreak region. There are some links to maps of the outbreak spread in the pinned RHDV post.
Being in the stroller would be a lot less risk than being on the ground outside, but personally I don’t really see any benefit to it (in most cases, the stroller is…[Read more]

So, if they have only been living together 24/7 for two weeks, I would consider that to be their “fully bonded” date. Being separated repeatedly can cause buns to have to somewhat reestablish things when they get back together.
Since this is a very new bond (even if you go of the 1.5 month timeline), I would just keep monitoring things. As long…[Read more]

How big of a pellet ration does she get? Usually a small increase in pellets is enough.

Don’t worry if she spits half of it out! That’s very normal. Honestly sometimes it seems like getting half in is a victory.
Just try to get a something in her and she will slowly start to perk up. Sometimes using smaller syringes helps them swallow more, because you put less in their mouth at a time. Feeding every hour seems excessive and…[Read more]

Oh yes, I remember now!
The most common side effect of Baytril is diminished appetite. It’s still importsnt thst he finishes the course of antibiotics, but you can expect him to show reluctsnce to some types of food. As long as he eats hay and pellets he will be fine though, but if he stops esting altogether, you’ll have to syringe feed him.
The…[Read more]

Hi! My 4 year old rabbit is recovering from cecal dysbiosis, I believe because I let him have banana. He seems to be feeling much better but this morning I found a cecotrope on the floor which was perfect looking. I offered it to him and he ate it (bunny families do such crazy things!). Should I be concerned about the fact that he left it on the…[Read more]

Vet said Walter is thin, she’s always been slight.
She eats well though, so any particular food suggestions?

Aventi GI paste and oral baytril, they told me about oral baytril making them lose their appetite and some side affects. I feel like he knew about the medication and trying to avoid it

As long as he is eating and pooping, it isn’t a big problem that he refuses vegs and fruit. What medication is he on?

I woke up and found out my rabbit ate his pee pad, he ate about a inch long and all the little things inside the pee pad were expose, and I found him flopping asleep. He had never done it before so I trusted him that he wouldn’t eat the pee pad, so I also try giving him his medication this morning and he’s been avoiding it (syringe), I thought it…[Read more]

A male neutering is a quick and straightforward affair that only rarely causes complications. I do understand your nervousness though – there are never any guarantees and it is after all our babies that are going under the knife.
You can use any sort of bedding that won’t stick to a wound, i e pretty much anything that isn’t wood chips or…[Read more]

Dropped Walter off for his neuter.
Just got a call. Turns out Walter is a girl!
They felt she was a little small and had a slow heart rate, so they wanted to wait on the spay.
Hope I will eventually be able to bond two girls.

To my understanding, bugs can be carriers, so if one gets in that happens to be one, there is a risk. I personally would say just not do it to be extra cautionary, as I don’t think rabbits need the stroller ride for enrichment/engagement. There are plenty of things to do indoors to spice things up, like re-arrange furniture or create forts with…[Read more]
