I’m sorry about the buns you have lost. It is so very hard to lose a rabbit.
Snuffles should be treated. How good the chances of a complete recovery are, depends on several factors. A very young bun’s immune defense isnt yet fully mature. With proper treatment and a good diet of hay and good quality pellets, the bun can recover, although it can…[Read more]

There are many bacteria that can cause sneezing, if it is a URI, and many of them are curable. In my personal experience with being on online forums, most sneezing cases are not the chronic pasturella that everyone is usually concerned about because vets bring it up or it’s one of the first mentions when looking up things about sneezing rabbits.…[Read more]

Hello everybody. New bunny mom here. I’ve had other bunnies before. A bonded pair who lived to old age and my last bunny, Mogul, who crossed over a few months ago due to GI Stasis. He was the love of my life and together with his vet we tried everything to save him, but he didn’t make it.
So after several months of mourning two days ago we…[Read more]

Hmm… the nail could have already been damaged before the struggle. That might explain why it came off relatively easily and there was no blood. I have seen it before where the nail was damaged from, say getting caught on the carpet. The nail tries to heal itself and then when the outer nail actually comes off, it leaves a little nub behind that…[Read more]

I trim my rabbits’ nails once a month.
I would say just make sure it stays clean and monitor that it heals properly. It is great that it didn’t end up bleeding. At this point, we just want the body to heal as it’s designed to and ensure no infections or anything interferes with that.
I would also just touch and maneuver the fingers around a bit…[Read more]

Thanks for coming back and updating! Force-feeding meds can be hard, but glad to hear you were able to manage!

Just popping an update here because none of my friends care enough about my rabbits to bother telling them 😅
Poor Phil went into stasis on Friday. She was off her food but not noticeably so for the few days following the separation, even though her mood was perfect. To the point that we were commenting that maybe she seemed even happier without…[Read more]

Awesome I’m glad she drank it! I’m also really glad you found a more knowledgeable vet. It can be really hard to find people qualified to treat rabbits. Idk about where you are but I feel like in the US veterinary schools may be teaching a lot more on the subject. We have a clinic in town where the rabbit specialist used to work and they always…[Read more]

I was cutting my bunny’s nails today, and as usual he struggled a bit. Once he calmed down and I began trimming, I saw that he had torn a nail off from the initial struggle.
All the nail beyond the quick came off, and it left the tip of the quick exposed. It wasn’t bleeding, but it was a bit red and fresh. I cleaned it off using chlorhexidine…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Rabbit on oral baytril in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 2 months ago
Yes, this sounds very normal with Baytril. I guess I just wouldn’t be overly concerned as long as he’s still eating hay and pellets. Mine had similar reactions… I never had to use a probiotic.

There might be something outside that is freaking them out.
Maybe just leave them inside and see if the black one calms down?

We noticed they calmed down after being neutered which was good and they had such a close bond up until now. They are both separated but our black bunny is just acting out and seems to be really aggressive towards the white bunny when he runs past the hutch as we let them out in the garden to run around (separately) trying to bite through the…[Read more]
