Lisa-P&T replied to the topic Is dominance/bullying behaviour too much? in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 2 months ago
Just popping an update here because none of my friends care enough about my rabbits to bother telling them 😅
Poor Phil went into stasis on Friday. She was off her food but not noticeably so for the few days following the separation, even though her mood was perfect. To the point that we were commenting that maybe she seemed even happier without…[Read more]

Awesome I’m glad she drank it! I’m also really glad you found a more knowledgeable vet. It can be really hard to find people qualified to treat rabbits. Idk about where you are but I feel like in the US veterinary schools may be teaching a lot more on the subject. We have a clinic in town where the rabbit specialist used to work and they always…[Read more]

Update: I woke up this morning and the water bowl was empty! Phew. So relieved she’s drinking water ♥

Bun-chan started the topic Torn nail in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 2 months ago
I was cutting my bunny’s nails today, and as usual he struggled a bit. Once he calmed down and I began trimming, I saw that he had torn a nail off from the initial struggle.
All the nail beyond the quick came off, and it left the tip of the quick exposed. It wasn’t bleeding, but it was a bit red and fresh. I cleaned it off using chlorhexidine…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Rabbit on oral baytril in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 2 months ago
Yes, this sounds very normal with Baytril. I guess I just wouldn’t be overly concerned as long as he’s still eating hay and pellets. Mine had similar reactions… I never had to use a probiotic.

There might be something outside that is freaking them out.
Maybe just leave them inside and see if the black one calms down?

We noticed they calmed down after being neutered which was good and they had such a close bond up until now. They are both separated but our black bunny is just acting out and seems to be really aggressive towards the white bunny when he runs past the hutch as we let them out in the garden to run around (separately) trying to bite through the…[Read more]

I guess he is eating okay, he won’t eat after I give him medication, but he does eat after an 3 hours. He use to be so exited to eat us lettuce, now he’s not as excited when I go feed him [ he is still very excited when I give him pellets] I have to put the lettuce in front of him and that’s when he would eat it. One of the reply’s said it just ma…[Read more]

They have been absolutely fine when they were indoors and then our black bunny just seemed to be really out of character when we put them in their new hutch. They were slowly introduced to the hutch and we’re fine for a week. They had such a close bond up until now and he is just acting out.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Weird bunny nesting behaviour in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 2 months ago
Perhaps the other bunny has “better” fur for nesting material purposes? It’s hard to say. As Wick suggested, it’s probably just a convenience thing. I would definitely be wary of these interactions. They could trigger a fight if the other bunny gets annoyed enough.

Oh gosh, that was a nasty fight! I agree that you’re going to have to take baby steps if you want to rebond them. Young bunnies tend to get along with everybody… then things can change when they become adults.

NalaBunny started the topic 24 hour bond prep in the forum BONDING 5 years, 2 months ago
Overview-
I have two rabbits that I’ve been pre-bonding for 3+ months now, but now it’s summer, and I have time to bond them. I will start bonding in 5 days and I’ve decided 24/7 bonding is the best option for me. Currently, Franklin- Female is freeroam in my room while Nala- Female has a large 6ft by 6ft cage.
Personalities-
Franklin: She is…[Read more]

Is he doing OK without the paste? If he’s eating OK and the Baytril isn’t messing up his gut flora, then the GI paste may not be necessary. I’ve personally never had to use a probiotic alongside an antibiotic.

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Weird bunny nesting behaviour in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 2 months ago
I assume both females are unspayed, based on the fact that one is nesting. Is this correct? Since the topic of intentional breeding is prohibited on these forums, there are not many users who will have experience with females going through nesting behavior (since many people have already spayed rabbits and this stops nesting behaviors).
My…[Read more]
