Mouth breathing suggests something more serious is going on: http://www.medirabbit.com/EN/Respiratory/Illness/Pneumonia/Pneumon_en.htm
Did the vet do any other tests to confirm diagnosis? Chest x-rays? In cases like this, you worry about pneumonia. If the Baytril isn’t working, a different antibiotic should be tried. In the meantime, he could…[Read more]

So sorry for the late update! Took Thumper to the vet and they did a blood and urine test and the blood test came back fine and the urine test showed that there was some white blood cells however the vet didn’t find that concerning and said he’ll be fine without medication. Some days he’s still drinking over 2 cups of water and other days it’s…[Read more]

Agree with BZOO, something outside might be frightening them. I would go back to keeping them inside. It’s safer and healthier for them anyway and there’s not any real benefit to keeping them outdoors. They’ll be much happier inside spending lots of time with you and getting to be part of the family. π

Hi
Thank you so much for your response.
I agree – i think it may be – not necessarily a dominant behavior but definitely Milo seems as though he is not willing to be submissive! (Which is strange as he is so skittish around Louie )
Today the bunnies spent 7 hours together – with no issues apart from one stand off nose to nose that led to Louie…[Read more]

Thank you Bam. I needed those encouraging words! He is loved beyond words! Hard to believe he managed to win us over so soon… There is no way he is going back to that place, specially now that I know he might be euthanized. He is definitely in his forever home. I will keep you updated! 💜

Thank you this is very helpful, my only worry with small spaces is that I have a bunny that with get territorial in a 2ft by 2ft space, do you have any tips to prevent this. Also how large of a space do you recommend and what should o add to the space to make it suitable for bonding?

I think that the Milo pinning his head to the ground is a more dominant behavior, or at least not “submitting”. It could be that he doesn’t trust the other bun enough yet, so is afraid to groom. Grooming is a very vulnerable position for the grooming bun (neck exposed to the other bun), which could explain why Milo is willing to groom the other…[Read more]

I have used the 24/7 method before and have had good luck with it, but I tend to prefer large spaces. Personally I have never had luck with small spaces, and it seems like sometimes buns have issues moving to larger spaces when they are bonded initially in small one. Also I’ve bonded I think 5 or 6 pairs now, and the only bond I’ve ever had fail…[Read more]

Wow, what a turn of events! I’m glad she’s feeling better!
Phil starting to get sick definitely could have set things off between them. An illness in one bunny can sometimes trigger issues in bonds.
Whatever the case, I’m glad they are both doing well now and hopefully things go smoothly in the future!

DanaNM replied to the topic Can my rabbit eat oregano in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 2 months ago
I think it should be fine, just remember that a small amount of dried oregano would be a large amount of fresh, I wouldn’t give too much. But a be a sprinkle on her pellets or hay could be really enriching π

I think so, my buns have all eaten fresh oregano from my garden.
Try a little bit at first, rabbits are often reluctant to try new food. They may need to be presented with a new food several times before they venture a taste. And even then, there’s no guarantee they’ll like it 😄

Fingers very crossed for you! It will help that he is in a great and loving environment and gets good nutritious food. It sounds like he has found himself the perfect home!
We would be happy for updates 🙂

Hope it is not pasteurella. He is in a huge enclosure, with unlimited hay and some pellets. He couldn’ be happier, binkying around all the time and flopping by my side for cuddles. He really is very active. But he has some nose discharge and the sneezing. I hope we pull through! 💪 Thank you!

Thank you for your answer! Yes, the vet told me he will be on antibiotics 14 days. I REALLY need him to recover. 💜
