Hi
I would love to know how your bonding has been going? I hope you had a great experience and Pi and Dorian are now best buddies.

UPDATE: No changes actually. This has been the fifth day on Baytril. I started nebulising him yesterday twice a day. Still sneezing, still nasal discharge. Good side: still very active and eating a lot. This is getting too long. I had hoped for some improvement by now. 😔

Your bunnies actually sound waaaaay better to me than my buns in the “cautionary tale”. They are asking for grooms, flopping against each other, and seem like they do like each other, even if they are still a bit cautious. Mine never did any of that. They stopped fighting… but would more or less avoid each other. I didn’t see any grooming or…[Read more]

Ooh @CinnamonBun that’s a really good point! I’ve heard so many stories about people (even vets!) not being able to determine the right gender of a bun 😂

I can’t say one way or the other unfortunately since I’m not a vet nor can I examine it myself. It really is up to you to assess the best you can. For me, things that would make me concerned is if it gets worse or there are signs that it is distressing your rabbit in any way, impacting his eating, pooping, etc..

If it seems like really matted, gunky fur and that’s it, I would give it time and occasionally try to help your rabbit out by doing the warm towel on that spot to help loosen it. If it’s all fur and it seems to be persistent, you could also try really carefully cutting it away, but that is something I think is also ok NOT to try, as it’s close to…[Read more]

My 2.7 kg bunny has snuffles and we took him to the vet.The vet doesn’t know enough with rabbit health first he gave single dose Amoxicillin shot it didn’t work, second he tried Tylosin it didn’t work, third he gave 5 days treatment with 0.18 ml of Baytril (which equals 3.3 mg/kg of enrofloxacin not 10 mg/kg.I learned that correct dose is 10 mg/kg…[Read more]

his eye doesn’t produce excessive water and there are any discharge or eye boogers… is there a way to get rid of it at home? am afraid tugging on it would hurt him (although i’ve tried and he doesn’t seem to be affected by it) thanks for the help!

It looks like really bad eye crusties. Is his eye continuing to water and make it worse? If so, I would recommend going to a rabbit experienced vet. There’s a chance it might just be a crazy eye booger that wasn’t groomed away properly and just… built up with other stuff? I would give it some time and if it gets worse, seek professional…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Bonding broken after desexing in the forum BONDING 5 years, 2 months ago
The bond younger rabbits have with each other is sometimes called a “baby bond”, which is well-known to actually be temporary, regardless if the rabbits are siblings or not. It is common that baby bonds break as the rabbits get older.
I would give them a week to re-settle after a fight and “forget” it, and then go ahead with introductions in…[Read more]

Josh and Jack are brothers who are just turned 6 months old and desexed 6 weeks ago.
They have been living side by side and always groom and cuddle each other. Jack is the dominant one and Josh is happy to be the submissive one until yesterday.
Two weeks ago, I decided to let them live together as it had been 4 weeks since the desexing and…[Read more]

Cinnamon Bun replied to the topic Stasis? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 2 months ago
I agree. If she’s still eating and drinking normally, then I don’t think it could be GI stasis. If she’s pressing her tummy on the ground then it’s most likely gas, and you can help soothe her tummy by massaging it, and you can also get her some simethicone (baby gas drops) to help her relieve some gas. Syringing her some herbal tea like green…[Read more]
