Sometimes if you just trim the edge of the mat you can work the rest of it out by hand. Try pulling on the sides of the mats, that often will help break them up.

And congrats on the bun! Of course we want to see pictures!

Females can go through a “post-spay craze” while their hormones stabilize. This phase is usually a couple weeks, so hang in there! She will calm down soon!

DanaNM replied to the topic Feeding schedule and full time job with 3 different types of shift in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 2 months ago

I’ve found that rabbits are very adaptable and resilient creatures. I think the concerns with not having a routine might be that for some people, not having a routine means that the bun might not be having its needs met?

Also there are some youtube channels that present things in absolutes, that may not be best for every bun and every home. There…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic What's the best choice of treats and how much? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 2 months ago

A small slice of carrot once or twice a week is fine, just keep an eye on your bun’s poops and hay intake. If the poops get weird, he eats less hay, or shows signs of gas, then he might not be handling the treats well.

I don’t tend to feed most treats (small bites of fruit or a thin slice of carrot) on a schedule, they are a very occasional…[Read more]

Hi it is me again👋 So Jack and Josh are out of bathtub and did 2 dates in the whole bathroom. We did a short one (half an hour) last night and a longer one today (3 hours). I put the pad in a corner with hay and water next to it. They shared the water and hay and had wee on the pad and had some naps together on the pad. They kind of treated the…[Read more]

The presence of an unfixed rabbit can bring about hormonal behavior in a fixed rabbit. That being said, any two rabbits, regardless of fixed status or not, being put together is likely to lead to aggression. Rabbits are territorial animals and another rabbit is very often going to make one or both rabbits aggressive by nature.

    Have you been going…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic So frustrating. URI: nothing seems to work… in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 2 months ago

URIs do not get worse overnight and inherently aren’t lethal really. The fact that he is so energetic honestly I would be surprised if symptoms got significantly worse at any fast pace. URIs are annoying, but often aren’t life threatening on their own. In terms of rabbit illnesses, it does need to be treated, but, it’s not a life-ender at the…[Read more]

Thank you for your answer! Yes! He is super happy! Binkying, flopping, eating like a little pig and seeking attention all the time! I don’t mind the vet visits or the money. I mean, I am not a millionaire, but I want him to be ok. I am just scared it might get worse. I have been unconsciously trying not to love him too much… too late…

I think being frustrated is natural – no one opts into having a new cute pet and being plagued with vet visits. I think I mentioned in a previous topic of yours or a similar case that it took 5 months of treatment for my Wick’s URI, which we started tx when we got him at 8-9wo. Exact same situation as you in that I was really frustrated that my…[Read more]

Ernesto has been on antibiotics to treat his snuffles since he got home almost three weeks ago. We started with Baytril, 7 days, didn’t work. Moved on to azithromycin last Sat, still not working. I have talked to his vet. He said to keep it up more days to give it more time. He wants to take X Rays next week if this goes on. I am worried sick.…[Read more]

Mary Bun replied to the topic Quick question about collars in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 2 months ago

They can be easily trained to come. Call his name and offer a treat, play it on repeat. He’ll get their soon. I second what everybody above said. To me the collar is a big no no. Too dangerous. Hope it helps!
