Hahaha I did get lucky! He’s even worse than I am with some bunnies. We started fostering Bonnie just to see how it went and hopefully have a trio. But then that didn’t work out, and he was like “we can’t send her back” after seeing how well she was doing with us. At at that point we were all crammed into a studio apartment!!

They definitely are. I really trust them. They literally saved my other bun from a bad bought of stasis and nursed her back to life. I am just worried because he sounded worried. She really loves food (she’s a rescue and was battered by another rabbit for most of her life) so I would be very very concerned if he couldn’t get her to eat.
I can’t…[Read more]

I’m sorry to hear about your bun 🙁 One thing that stood out to me was how your vet was stressing getting the pain meds right away and making sure she eats. That makes me think your girl is in very good hands since they sound experienced with rabbits. I’ve seen some tragic stories and inexperienced vet stories so try and relax knowing they are m…[Read more]

I brought my around 6 month old rabbit in to be spayed today. After waiting all day, I finally just heard back from our vet to say that she had misplaced ovaries which were heavily attached to her abdominal wall. It was a traumatic surgery which took over 2 hours and requires her to stay in the hospital overnight for monitoring. They said she…[Read more]

Hi all, I have difficult to please buns who don’t like most traditional toys that I’ve researched. I’ve discovered they love hopping on and ripping up tissue paper! I had some in a dig box and they weren’t interested, but I randomly laid a couple full sheets out on the floor and after a while they figured out it’s really fun to play with 🙂 They…[Read more]

Sorry I must have missed your post when I posted an update!
I did take your advice though! I tried my best not to intervene and let them handle it. And Wolfie actually started grooming her! I feel silly now because they’ve been doing this dance for days and I kept intervening. I did let him while he groomed her, just because he kept switching t…[Read more]

Hi, from what I’ve read you’re up to a dangerous temperature for rabbits. If there is a portable A/C or anything for her room it would be good. I think they are at a pretty serious risk of overheating over 80 degrees F, and you’re at 86.

There are different views on this. When my bun Vilde was slowly recovering from a long bout of stasis, my rabbit savvy vet told us to stop Reglan (metoclopramide) without tapering. I asked about it, because I had read that it needs tapering, but the vet said they never recommend that for their patients. My bun recovered without tapering.
It can…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Do foraging mixes count as treats in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 2 months ago
Foraging mixes are not treats unless they have added pieces of dried carrot etc. Apple twigs don’t have a lot of sugar unless there’s been sugar added to them. My bun Bam went crazy for apple twigs too, he was allowed them by his bunny savvy vet when he was on a diet. He got fresh twigs from my garden, so there was absolutely no sugar added.
The…[Read more]

Hi Everyone, long time no post!
Yesterday I took Dorothy, my 6 old mini rex mix to the vet for her follow up X-Ray after developing GI stasis 2 weeks ago (I believe it was brought on by gas, after an abnormally bad shed, which her husbun just finished as well). She was on 1mL of Reglan twice daily, 0.2mL of Cisapride, Metacam, Probiotic,…[Read more]

I’d be happy with any amount of rabbits but my boyfriend wouldn’t to for more than 2 so you’re lucky it you have someone who is on board with so many!! Rabbits are the best ❤️

Hi guys,
Recently ive been wanting to invest in some foraging enrichment for my bun. But im wondering whether they are considered as sugary treats or something that can be an addition to the small nibbles of fruit he gets daily. I’m not sure if things like dried flowers/herbs, apple sticks and willow leaves should also be given in very limited q…[Read more]

You can dip your hands in cool water and wet her ears with your wet hands. Rabbits thermoregulate in hot weather primarily via their ears.

It is like 35 degrees of Celsius outside and inside we have like 30. So it is really hot.
I gave her frozen water bottle but she won’t lay next to it. The only way we cool her down is a fan in a room and wet towel

She is not letargic at all so I doubt it’s a health issue

How old is she? Some rabbits regulate to a “chill” activity period during the large majority of the day, as that’s when they usually sleep. It can be a very different energy-schedule than a younger rabbit who, like a human child, defies the laws of when they “should” be asleep versus awake.
All this being said, it is best to first discount health…[Read more]
