Yes, dried forage items generally do not contain sugar. You can give most of them fairly freely. As Bam pointed out though, you don’t want to give so much that your bunny doesn’t eat as much hay as they should.

No they’re fine at other feeding times, and they stop being aggressive once I put the food down – it could be a way of them telling me they want their breakfast I suppose!

5am is a time rabbits can be active and it sounds like it’s close to when your rabbits are fed. Food aggression is not unheard of in rabbits. Does this happen around any other food related times?

Thank you for this, made me feel better. I do wonder about the tooth grinding though, it’s new for her, but she never appears to be in pain when she does it. It seems too loud to be tooth purring, when she tooth purrs it’s very quiet.

Mine seem to really like the crumpled up brown packing paper that comes in packages. I usually stuff it in their tunnel and maze for them to shred and dig through. 🙂

you might see that lead to some face mounting. If so, don’t panic! Just spin the mounter around so they’re facing the correct way.

Other than that they seem to be doing wonderfully!

Hahaha I did get lucky! He’s even worse than I am with some bunnies. We started fostering Bonnie just to see how it went and hopefully have a trio. But then that didn’t work out, and he was like “we can’t send her back” after seeing how well she was doing with us. At at that point we were all crammed into a studio apartment!!

They definitely are. I really trust them. They literally saved my other bun from a bad bought of stasis and nursed her back to life. I am just worried because he sounded worried. She really loves food (she’s a rescue and was battered by another rabbit for most of her life) so I would be very very concerned if he couldn’t get her to eat.

I’m sorry to hear about your bun 🙁   One thing that stood out to me was how your vet was stressing getting the pain meds right away and making sure she eats. That makes me think your girl is in very good hands since they sound experienced with rabbits.
