Happy to hear he is improving. From my experience, Azithromycin takes a bit longer to kick in so I’m glad you stuck with it. Keep it up! You want to make sure the infection is gone for sure.

Did you use the Add Media button to add photos?
It can cause loss of appetite and diarrhea in dogs… not sure about rabbits. There is no information on Medirabbit’s website. It is only listed as “safe” to use.
The lethargy and weight loss are concerning. However, it sounds like the weight loss was occurring before the Pyrantel. Also, the…[Read more]

A fecal test was done and it was negative for nay parasite. He still asked me to give him the dewormer.
Everything was turning out to be just fine yesterday and today he had that liquid poop and so so much of it. I don’t know what to do and who to go to.
He has a poopy butt and is not interested in moving, I can feel gas bubbles in his abdominal…[Read more]

That’s great to hear! It’s also great to know the medication will continue thru lack of symptoms too, as often antibiotics are stopped too soon. I think an additional week from no-sneezing is a good amount of time to ensure all the infection has been taken care of, though I am not a vet!

I showed them a pic of the poops she’s been having and because it honestly seems like she was slowly improving even off of the Reglan, they said that we can just try continuing her pain meds instead of the Reglan, and she can probably pull herself out of this. Maybe the pain is from inflammation in her gut or residual gas. I hope it works. This is…[Read more]

Aww.. your story made me feel better. I am actually really curious about this though because I suspect her problem may be dental, but two different vets checked her in the past few weeks for dental issues and said they were “perfect.” Previously she had sharp points on her teeth that had to be shaved down (this was years ago). But if she had…[Read more]

So happy!!!! Azithromycin has finally worked!! Ernesto is no longer sneezing and there’s no more nasal discharge!!! No side effects either! We’ve got one more week to go, but my baby is feeling so much better.
Thank you all for your patience and support!

LBJ10 replied to the topic Small hernia on rabbit in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 2 months ago
If the hernia is small and only fat is protruding, then they generally don’t cause a problem. The only thing you would worry about is it getting bigger. Once they get to a certain size, intestines or other organs can start to slip through. That can definitely cause a problem.

I think it does vary between bunnies. Just like people… some people are just “warmblooded”.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Help! My rabbit is going into stasis! in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 2 months ago
The pyrantel is “safe” to use in bunnies. Did the vet confirm that your bunny has worms? This particular dewormer is used mostly for roundworms. The dewormer itself shouldn’t cause gas. However, if an animal is heavily infested with worms, the dewormer can cause the worms to form a ball in the intestines. If your bunny does actually have worms,…[Read more]

I realize this is an old post, but did not want to ask a question that has already been put out there. I have a 9m neutered Lionhead, since he has been neutered he leaves poops under his tunnel (usually sleeps in his tunnel haven) in the living room. He is free roamed but lately he has been spending a lot of time in his bedroom afraid of my p…[Read more]

Thank you for the advice.
We are actually going to rehome Tony. She will be easier to home as she’s very straightforward and gentle.
Phil is far too much of a handful and we don’t want her to end up getting bounded from home to home as a problematic bun.
We found a private rabbit rehoming group who try as best they can to vet members. Fingers…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic I'm scared… this is getting worse and worse… in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 2 months ago
Spectinomycin is on Medirabbit’s list of antibiotics that are NOT rabbit safe.

When my bun Vilde had tummy problems after stasis he was given metronidazole (brand name Flagyl, among others) for 5 days. It’s bunny safe. Maybe you could ask your vet if you can try that?

Sesame has sore hocks right now! 🙁 😥 They are pictured. He also has small pink callouses by the heel but I’ve read that this isn’t a big problem. The hocks left small b lood prints once and he isn’t as active as usual, but not immobile. Don’t know whether to take him to the vet, as apparently they would only tell us to have softer surfaces…[Read more]

Hay, everyone. I’ve been going through a lot with Binkie recently, and it seems to be getting worse. I recently made a thread for her cecal dysbiosis that doesn’t seem to be improving, and I’ve done everything that was suggested. Binkie has always had cecal problems throughout her life (two years), but it seems to be getting a lot worse now, and…[Read more]

I have 3 male bunnies who were friends before. One is about 9 months, the other two about 7 months and are brothers. They all were getting along just fine from the birth of the younger two up until the oldest got neutered. They lived in the same room/enclosure the whole time. I separated the older one for a week or two from the time he was neu…[Read more]

Stasis recovery really can be very slow and exhausting. My bun Vilde needed 2 months before he was back to himself. It was very stressful. Daily meds, daily syringe feedings. Daily weighing. Poop counting.
He lived for 1.5 years more after that, the cause for his stasis was really bad dental problems. I’m very happy we got that much extra time…[Read more]
