DanaNM replied to the topic Happy but not bonded? in the forum BONDING 5 years, 2 months ago
I tried to answer your questions below!
Bonding still going ok- no real change. Some days I think they are there and then others I feel it will never happen. this week Louie decided to chase a little. Not sure if it was playful or not- especially as they have had relatively little chasing since beginning this seemed like it was going the wrong…[Read more]

So are you working with them in the same space they will be living in permanently? If so, that makes things a lot easier! And less likely to cause problems with the move. How long have they seemed bonded for?
I think I would make the pen a bit bigger, and have them spend time in the larger space for a bit while you get their permanent home…[Read more]

Mounting can (and does) happen in fully bonded pairs, but I 100% agree that 16 hours isn’t long enough.
You’ll want to wait at least 48 hours before making the final move to their permanent home. I usually wait until I am sure they are bonded, then do another 24 hours or so just to be on the safe side. If any scuffles or aggression occurs, I…[Read more]

You’re very welcome! Sorry it couldn’t have been the ideal outcome, but the important thing is that both buns will have a safe and loving home!

Oh wow! That’s very interesting about the neutering! There are also male buns whose testicles never descend, but I imagine the vet would have looked for those if they went in to do a spay. Female and male bunny genitalia look really similar, especially on small bunnies!
So with litter training, it’s usually best to start with a hard floor bottom…[Read more]

That makes sense. they’ve been together 40 hours so far and he actually hasn’t mounted since i made that last comment so we’re going to give them a little bit longer to lock things in:)

Amber replied to the topic Exercise pen – is the gap too large? in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 5 years, 2 months ago
Thank you for your reply! After reading it, I brought the pen over and tried giving her a treat through it. You were right, she could fit her little nose through it but got stuck at her eyes, and she was really pushing at the bars trying to go for that treat haha!
Honestly, I’m not sure why I didn’t just try that in the first place lol…[Read more]

My buns are around 3lbs and 5lbs (on a good day) and are not able to stick their heads entirely through the xpen bars. The gap really isn’t *that* big. My currently chubby lionhead was only able to stick his head through as a baby, but he was also so tiny that he couldn’t get in and out of the pen without makeshift steps (so crazy to think abou…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic How long does metoclopramide take to show results in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 2 months ago
It should act pretty rapidly albeit not instantly. If theres very little content in the intestine due to her having earen very little, it takes a lot longer. One of my buns went almost 24 hours without pooping, despite medication with metoclopramide, metacam and ranitidine. He was eventually fine, though.

thank you so much! i added a gap between so that they can still sniff each other but can’t directly access each other or nip at one another. i also have been swapping their litter boxes and he hasn’t gotten aggressive actually, he just seems to ignore it and carry on with eating his hay lol. thanks again:)
