Thank you very much for this report! This is so very helpful for other bun owners.
Fingers crossed he just need a couple of weeks more of PenG.

You could cut out the pellets again and put her back on the hay and water diet. There could be something in the pellets that doesn’t agree with her, or it could be that you didn’t keep her on the hay and water diet long enough for her gut to reestablish a sturdy gut microbiome.
Some rabbits are prone to GI-upset. The probiotic you have been…[Read more]

Hey thanks for replying. It’s been a week and her fecal droppings are still intermittent. She’s been on a hay & water diet. She still eats her hay and drinks water. Her energy has changed a bit tho. Not as playful as when she was okay. I reintroduce her to her usual pellets (momi complete-a for young rabbits https://www.kohepets.com.sg/products/mom…[Read more]

Looks like a molting line to me too. Perfectly normal, and nothing to be worried about.

Hi, I just wanted to update on Theo, for posterity as well since I haven’t seen this issue pop up as much on the forum, and it might be useful.
So he’s been through 6 weeks of penicillin, and stopped his doses a week ago. Three weeks ago there was crusting/sores around his mouth so the vet definitely thought it was syphilis. Now, after 1.5 months…[Read more]

I’m afraid to give him anything that will encourage vigorous digging 😯 , considering he already does it during recovery periods anyways… But I can try! I have an incomplete one I really need to spend time finishing up.
I did the fabric strips and hung up a treasure barrel toy which seems to be a success if I fill it with pellets.

Yes, a curtain made of fleece strips might be fun. You said he likes food… what about one of those forage mats?

Looks like a shed line to me.

Cooper has a line over his nose. It feels like a little ridge or indent. Doesn’t seem to bother him at all. He’s molting but I’m a paranoid bun mom and now don’t know if it’s because he’s molting… or if I should make an appointment. I’ve noticed it slightly before but not like this. Like I said, he’s shedding A LOT. -

Hmm… I wonder if the antibiotic killed a bunch of bacteria off and all the build up decided to come out. Maybe more is loosened, but still in there. The nebulizer should help with that as well.

I would honestly make the hard switch 100%. Rabbits are selective foragers so they will only eat the best bits— as long as there’s enough alfalfa to sustain him, he’ll probably only eat that, as you’ve observed.

Hi, my rabbit Sawyer is currently 8 months old and for the past month, I’ve been trying to ween him off alfalfa hay with no success. Even when I put in a few strands of the Timothy hay, he eats around it for the alfalfa hay. I have even bought orchard meadow hay thinking he just doesn’t like the alfalfa hay and still no luck. I know he should be…[Read more]

No, but he is kind of honking, because of the congestion. I am still nebulizing him twice a day. Such a downer…

Thanks. Much easier than describing the layout in text, haha.
I don’t think there’s enough distance to make a ramp with a low enough grade that wouldn’t be an issue. I think the vet is concerned with any significant pressure at this point, so whether that’s jumping down from a step or walking down a slope– both likely would be better to…[Read more]
