Baby rabbits are a lot more positive to being handled than adult rabbits. It’s when they hit puberty that they start to become fearful. I dont think you need to worry about having hurt your bun.

Trancing is a debated topic. Some vets prefer it to giving a sedative for simple but necessary procedures. There is a big difference in the way you do it…[Read more]

Hi! I had a question about tracing rabbits. I just found out that its a thing, and I’ve been cradling my baby rabbit since she was 6 weeks old. She always seemed to like it and fall asleep in my arms, but now I’m worried it’s because she was in a trance and paralyzed with fear!! But I’ve also read that cradling is fine so long as their head is…[Read more]

I don’t believe pasteurella will do anything to other animals, but I’m not certain. Notably, all rabbits carry pasteurella, but only some rabbits will actually get and express the disease, since most of the time, a healthy rabbit’s immune system keeps it in check. For that reason, I don’t think your puppy would be harmed because even healthy…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Bonding two male rabbits in the forum BONDING 5 years, 2 months ago

Well they both want to be dominant, so one of them need to give in and groom the other. Head-down stand offs are common. It may take a while, but eventually one may give in. If this doesn’t happen and they both are much too insistent on being dominant, this bond may not work.

… Having a female rabbit is a very important thing to note.…[Read more]

I know C&C structures can be frustrating to re-arrange and move, but perhaps closing the gap and reducing the space (so block off the 3 storey) may be helpful? It sounds like there’s a lot of reactivity to general movement, and I wonder if the pre-bonding steps you’ve taken aren’t allowing as much habituation/exposure to general movement and…[Read more]

Ah thanks, Wick! He’s more acting afraid than territorial, so the lighting combined with the strange movement is most likely. She seems completely unfazed by it and is confused by his fear. The whole thing was very odd fo witness haha! Im going to try blocking it off with the remaining pen I have. I like the idea of putting a sheet over it as we…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Any advices on looking after indoor bunny in winter? in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 2 months ago

I highly recommend reading over the information we have in the RABBIT INFO section of this website — it will give you a necessary overview of good rabbit care practices.

I think covering the cage with a blanket or something to insulate it would be helpful.

Would the rabbit always stay in a cage in the living? Will it have time to roam in a larger pen?

    1. It’s possible he didn’t recognize her due to lighting and such. Rabbits aren’t the smartest creatures. At the same time, I wonder if, since it’s new territory, there was just general defensive and fear around it.
    2. Probably exposure to the experience again.
    3. I would block the visual of the other side using a bed sheet. It doesn’t matter that…

Thank you for updating us! I’m glad to hear it was identified to be a wart instead of something else. Unsure if there’s an open wound or not from it falling off, but make sure to monitor it and the area stays clean so it heals without infection. It’s great that you got an ointment as well to keep it maintained.

I have a dwarf myself and have…[Read more]

I know how you feel. I couldn’t even entertain the idea of getting a new bun, it was too heartbreaking to see him go and his absence is felt so deeply. I had to take Tylenol pm to help me sleep the first few nights. That might help you too.

I know how hard it is not to blame yourself and that we all do it at first but again, it shows how much y…[Read more]

Saying no to them begging for treats is simply not giving them treats. If your friend gives into cage rattling, nipping, etc., they are only reinforcing that level of begging for the future. The way to say no to treats is to ignore them and not give them.

If the diet is objective reduction of food (ex. less pellets and treats), you can just make…[Read more]

Sweetie, I am SO sorry for your loss. We lost Bonny two weeks ago and this is the first morning no tears, but still very near the surface.  When they leave us, they take our hearts with them.  Soooo many emotions, so much pain — because we loved our babies SOOOOO much.  May God bring peace to your heart with happy memories.  It takes time and the…[Read more]

What a fantastic chart! Not to snag advice on this thread, but asking for a friend…how does one put their bunny on a diet? More specifically, how do you say no when they beg for treats?!
