This sounds too good to be true haha I’m currently at 2ft x 4 ft so does this mean I can expand at larger increments like jumping to a 4 ft by 4 ft area now? Sorry about all the questions! I really want to make sure I’m doing this right

I live in NY and we have tropical storm Elsa coming our way today/tonight. I’m not sure what the damage will be, but it begs the question: what do I need to do to prep for an emergency?

In addition to emergency supplies (critical care, simethicone, metacam, etc.), I’m thinking:

Extra hay, treats, greens (though those won’t last long if power…[Read more]

I’m very sorry for your loss. Fly strike is truly horrifying and often fatal, even with treatment.  🙁

I think we all tend to blame ourselves when we lose a bun, no matter if it’s rational or not. I think the best thing we can do is learn from our mistakes and try to prevent the same thing happening again. Keeping bunnies indoors is the best way…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Need comfort. 8 weeks old Pom Pom died this morning in the forum RAINBOW BRIDGE 5 years, 1 month ago

My understanding is that RHDV is everywhere in Australia, but I’m not 100% on that.

Do you have a vet lined up? I’m not sure how young rabbits can be vaccinated, but it would be good to know whether it could have been RHDV before getting another rabbit, as it’s very contagious.

8 weeks is also very young, so it could have been a number of…[Read more]

Thanks for filling out the template, that is helpful! Great names btw 🙂

So I haven’t successfully bonded a trio, but I tried and gave up LOL. Some people like to work with the hardest pair of the two first, others like to work with the whole group. It’s great that Marshmallow gets along with both rabbits already, so I think focusing on Fluffy…[Read more]

Thank you both! I’m very lucky that the bonding has been fairly smooth and quick. They use the same litter but they are also…buttheads, for lack of a better word! If I take it away they will likely protest by peeing on the rug, so I may change up my litter and start fresh after we move. Hopefully one litter will suffice so we can maximize the…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Happy but not bonded? in the forum BONDING 5 years, 1 month ago

That’s very frustrating. I think I would expect to see some improvements by now given the amount of hours you’ve put in with them, and that does sound like a bit of a backtrack and like you are perhaps stuck in a bit of a rut with them.

It really sounds similar to the ordeal I went through with Bun Jovi and Bertha. Some things to try:

    – a new…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Re-bonding: Is it possible with aggressive behavior in one? in the forum BONDING 5 years, 1 month ago

That sounds great! I would wait to do sessions just till after the bunny sitter comes. Once you start sessions it’s good to be consistent, so if you have to take a break from them anyway might as well wait.  🙂

DanaNM replied to the topic Help/Advice – Male + two fighting females in the forum BONDING 5 years, 1 month ago

That’s tough. I do wonder if perhaps they could just be restricted while unsupervised, then while supervised they could free-roam a larger area and you could still spend time with them on the sofa? My Cooper (and my bridge bunnies Bunston and Bertha) could not have unsupervised free-roam because they were just too destructive. So they live in a…[Read more]

Occasional humping is nothing to worry about as long it doesn’t lead to scuffling or aggression!

Congrats! Sounds like it’s going so great!

I use one large box my pairs, but some people use two. If they use it together no problem I think 1 is easier (less cleaning!) 🙂

Oooh! Lucky that it’s not too long of a move!

I think the main thing is to keep everything you’ll need to set them up (at least temporarily) in one place, and plan to move the pets last if possible. We disassembled the buns main condos and put them on the moving truck, and had them in pens temporarily that we could take last ourselves (kind of…[Read more]

Thanks for using the template! 🙂

I’m thinking since she’s a relatively new addition, this has been going on a while, and you had some concerns about her care, I would take her to the vet to get checked out (a parasite screening would prob be a good idea). Being underweight combined with mushy poops is worrisome, because it could mean her cecum…[Read more]

I’m glad to hear they have bonded and are happy! They sound “closer ” than my 2 🙂  One of mine is very weird about being under something low to the ground like the bed (he “buzzes” and thumps but stays under running back and forth). It’s odd and I don’t like him under because he won’t come out,  so I blocked my bed also. I bought some wooden p…[Read more]

#1: Some rabbits need to be separated at food time if they eat at different paces. This isn’t super unusual. You could also take to sneak feeding Gus later in the day to ensure he gets enough. Re: the mushy poops, how is her hay intake objectively, and then how is it relative to intake of non-hay foods? Typically, as long as a rabbit is eating…[Read more]
