If they are at the point in the tub where they mostly ignore each other, I would start extending the length of the sessions. Honestly at this point it’s just about patience. If the tub is starting to go well then I would just keep using the tub. 🙂

Wow this was SO helpful! I don’t think this storm will be too bad, but this question always comes to mind whenever Mother Nature throws a tantrum. But sound super prepared for every possible scenario and provided some really great tips! I definitely need to up my bunny doomsday prep and add some more items 😅

hi, I’m in FL and it just bypassed us. In my annual bunny bag I also have a container of pellets ( greens are hard. It won’t last long even if you relocate.) So the hay can serve as both food and litter, so I like a closed bag of it. But throw in a small dish and bottled water. A roll of paper towels and some folded or rolled trash bags. A…[Read more]

It really think they can be friends if one rabbit submits to the other. I can do longer bonding sessions now because they don’t really fight most of the time, just kinda keep to themselves on separate ends of the bathtub. I’m not sure if this means I should try a larger or smaller space. If they are ignoring each other, is it better to push the…[Read more]

Ok thank you for the advice 🙂 I’ll keep that in mind. I’ve been trying to do sessions everyday but some days I just can’t find the time. I’m not sure about adding marshmallow back in though, because in my case I think fluffy was getting defensive over her. When moose comes near them, fluffy would lunge. But I’ll definitely take a look at other…[Read more]

Glad you were able to get him an appointment! The price varies a lot depending on where you are, that doesn’t sound too extreme depending on what they plan to do (if they are planning x-rays that sounds normal). They may also be planning to do blood work first to make sure he is likely to handle the anesthesia well. If you share the actual quote…[Read more]

I’m very sorry for your loss. Fly strike is often deadly, as Dana says. The best preventative measure is to keep the bun indoors when the weather is warm. It only takes the one fly though, so daily inspection of the bun’s rear end during summer is strongly recommended. If its really hot, eggs can hatch in as little as 6-12 hours so vigilance is…[Read more]

Hi
we haven’t done any stress bonding.
louie didn’t seem phased at all on his ride home from the shelter so we figured it would only be Milo- and he is always stressed anyway!they spend all day together supervised for weeks now. Louie is good most the time. He doesn’t like to be in any sort of pen or cage or room even! He is constantly tryin…[Read more]

This sounds too good to be true haha I’m currently at 2ft x 4 ft so does this mean I can expand at larger increments like jumping to a 4 ft by 4 ft area now? Sorry about all the questions! I really want to make sure I’m doing this right

I live in NY and we have tropical storm Elsa coming our way today/tonight. I’m not sure what the damage will be, but it begs the question: what do I need to do to prep for an emergency?
In addition to emergency supplies (critical care, simethicone, metacam, etc.), I’m thinking:
Extra hay, treats, greens (though those won’t last long if power…[Read more]

I’m very sorry for your loss. Fly strike is truly horrifying and often fatal, even with treatment. 🙁
I think we all tend to blame ourselves when we lose a bun, no matter if it’s rational or not. I think the best thing we can do is learn from our mistakes and try to prevent the same thing happening again. Keeping bunnies indoors is the best way…[Read more]

My understanding is that RHDV is everywhere in Australia, but I’m not 100% on that.
Do you have a vet lined up? I’m not sure how young rabbits can be vaccinated, but it would be good to know whether it could have been RHDV before getting another rabbit, as it’s very contagious.
8 weeks is also very young, so it could have been a number of…[Read more]

Thanks for filling out the template, that is helpful! Great names btw 🙂
So I haven’t successfully bonded a trio, but I tried and gave up LOL. Some people like to work with the hardest pair of the two first, others like to work with the whole group. It’s great that Marshmallow gets along with both rabbits already, so I think focusing on Fluffy…[Read more]

Thank you both! I’m very lucky that the bonding has been fairly smooth and quick. They use the same litter but they are also…buttheads, for lack of a better word! If I take it away they will likely protest by peeing on the rug, so I may change up my litter and start fresh after we move. Hopefully one litter will suffice so we can maximize the…[Read more]

That’s very frustrating. I think I would expect to see some improvements by now given the amount of hours you’ve put in with them, and that does sound like a bit of a backtrack and like you are perhaps stuck in a bit of a rut with them.
It really sounds similar to the ordeal I went through with Bun Jovi and Bertha. Some things to try:
– a new…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Re-bonding: Is it possible with aggressive behavior in one? in the forum BONDING 5 years, 1 month ago
That sounds great! I would wait to do sessions just till after the bunny sitter comes. Once you start sessions it’s good to be consistent, so if you have to take a break from them anyway might as well wait. 🙂

That’s tough. I do wonder if perhaps they could just be restricted while unsupervised, then while supervised they could free-roam a larger area and you could still spend time with them on the sofa? My Cooper (and my bridge bunnies Bunston and Bertha) could not have unsupervised free-roam because they were just too destructive. So they live in a…[Read more]
