Baby rabbits can eat quite a lot of pellets. Some even free feed babies, but most people just refill the bowl when it’s been emptied.
A good thing to have at home for minor tummy trouble is simethicone baby gas drops. You give 0.5-1 ml if you suspect gas. It’s not expensive, a small bottle lasts a long time. They have it in the baby aisle in f ex…[Read more]

If she has pooped a lot now, I think you’re pretty much in the clear. She’s alert, has good energy and a good appetite and she has pooped a lot.
Does she eat a good amount of hay?
If she eats a good amount of hay, you can slowly reintroduce pellets little by little starting tomorrow or so. She is a baby so she needs pellets to grow, but hay…[Read more]

I am a little over 2 weeks into marathon bonding my two rabbits and was curious about a behavior I observed. Nova (F, spayed) will mount Pekoe (M, neutered) then groom him afterwards. There has only been one minor scuffle since I started marathon bonding and that was because I expanded their space too quickly. What does the humping then grooming…[Read more]

I’m out of town and my rabbit sitter just sent me this picture of my 5 month old rabbit, Charlie. She has a sore and two bloody scabs on her lip…! I have no idea what could have caused it… does it look like anything to you?

He looks very much like a Netherland Dwarf. That may end up being him at his biggest size (~2.2lb), though I’d wait until he was 1yo to be certain. The snout face and ear size are very characteristic of nethies (I have one!).

This is Ollie he is 7 months and 2.2 pounds. I adopted him about 2 weeks ago and wondering what breeds he might be. The shelter said American but those are big. Is there such thing as a dwarf American rabbit?

Watched a video about making your own CC. Guy just pulverized his Guinea Pigs regular food. He’d also add a bit of mashed banana at tip of syringe for extra flavor. Piggy loved it!
Since CC and Sherwood’s Recovery food is impossible to get right now, I’m giving it a try. Still trying to get a little weight on Walter, I mix this with org…[Read more]

Hi.
we are on day 5. 3 overnights done. 😌
The bunnies seem happy together, they sit in the litter box together and I don’t worry about them like I used to! They keep me up at night with binkies and taking it in turns to bite the pen and banging and trying to move it.
They do not cuddle and not much grooming -Louie tries. Milo moves away after l…[Read more]

Thank you so much for your quick responses! I am a very long winded post writer so it means a lot you’d take the time.
On hay to other foods ratio: she’s been a wonderful hay eater, I’d definitely say around 80%ish of her diet is hay?
As for transitioning diet: we went extremely slow transitioning to pellets. Not so much with greens, though. The…[Read more]

I do think the flooring is a big factor. Rabbits do not have pads on their feet like dogs and cats do– they essentially are wearing furry socks all the time! That means any slippery flooring is going to be a bit hard to go on willingly, and also health-wise, it is hard to get adequate exercise when you’re slipping around too. I would definitely…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Nipping in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 1 month ago
I would definitely not reinforce it by giving her pellets when she does it. Pellet time is often a very energetic time for rabbits, and that excitement can lead to nipping. You can try changing when pellet time is so that behavior doesn’t get reinforced due to anticipatory energy motivating the behavior to come up. You can also change how you feed…[Read more]
