They should get hay somewhere else. I would recommend small pet select hay, but it is a little more in the pricey side. Oxbow is good for hay too and not super pricey, or maybe it was just a bad hay bale.

Timothy hay is typically supposed to be a nice green color. When it’s yellow like that it’s dried out and won’t be as appealing to any animal you try to feed it to (I work with horses and they’d snuff that.) Sometimes there are just batches of hay that bunnies just won’t eat, and if multiple of them aren’t eating it then you know it must not ta…[Read more]

Chloe, I doubt the pain meds would have made a difference for the outcome. 0.8 ml of dog metacam for a 5 pound bun (I dont know what Blue weighed, so I’m just guessing) is a pretty standard dose, so the vets can not have believed he was in a lot of pain. If vets think a bun is in a lot of pain they normally prescribe opioids for short term use.…[Read more]

is it normal for my holland lop bunny to have sparse hair on his ears? he is about 3months old and is growing in size. perhaps that is a reason why he does not have much fur on his ears?

previously already had quite little hair on his ears but as he grew it became even more sparse HAHA

i have inspected his fur and ears, they are clean. no…[Read more]

It’s supposed to be Timothy hay and when they pick up hay it normally is a golden color. I wish I could show you the picture she took but I can’t seem to do that weirdly. It looks kinda like this: https://www.dreamstime.com/stock-photography-golden-hay-texture-background-close-up-image30344192

Sweetheart, take a deep breath. Tell yourself “I did everything I could for my baby with the knowledge I had at hand. I cannot know what I don’t know. My baby was loved and cared for.” I, personally, lost my VERY loved senior (almost 12 years old) bunny 2.5 weeks ago.  The hurt, the gut-wrenching pain is palpable — always right below the surface…[Read more]

Is it normally golden? What type of hay is it? Oat hay is supposed to be golden, but it should only be fed little because it makes them chubby. Orchard and Timothy hay should be green.

It’s a golden color (if it was a hair color it’d be a light blonde if that helps at all to describe it), 2 cups of veggies, 1/8 cup pellets and from what they’ve seen no bugs.

I am bonding my rabbit Cinnimon and Ollie. They mostly ignore each other and occasionally flop with each other, they groom each other occasionally too on there ears, head, and butt/backend. I don’t know what grooming the butt/backend means. Have your bunnies ever done this, is it okay?

Is the hay good? Not brown, or musty. How much veggies and pellets do they give the bunnies. They may be eating the pellets and veggies instead of the hay. Did they check the bale no bugs or anything like that, it may cause the bunnies to not eat it.

Someone I know is having trouble with her buns. They’re normally great hay eaters. She gets her hay from a farm and her rabbits have always eaten it however she just got a new bale and they’re barely touching it. She knows they’re healthy because they just got a check up and everything is fine. She doesn’t have money to try the foraging trick but…[Read more]

I thought that he may be at first, but he looks different than my netherland dwarf. His face is more of a circle, his ears are bigger, and he is more furry.

I am also curious if your rabbit is being kept in a cage/housing that is different. Those sound like mouth injuries from bar pulling/chewing. If the pet-sitter is OK with handling rabbits, I would inquire to check that the front teeth look OK and not damaged. Also check in about if the rabbit is eating OK.

Does she have him caged/penned up more than usual? seeing him behind the bars makes me wonder whether he has been frantically chewing the bars in an effort to escape. I’m not sure if they can injure their lips but I do know bunnies can chip their teeth on the metal. If he’s feeling trapped or scared he may also be chewing on other things out of…[Read more]

I’m in the middle of bonding as well, so I’m by no means a bounding expert. Wolfie was very into mounting in the beginning —face mounting more specifically haha — but from the start Pixie was clearly more dominant. I think there was a brief period of Wolfie mounting and grooming in the same dating session, but then he stopped mounting altoget…[Read more]
