Yep, Wick is correct. Fur texture can vary in Nethies.

A golden color doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad. But if there is something off with the batch, bunnies will often pick up on that. Your best bet is to just try a new batch of hay to see if it passes your bunny’s taste test.

His fur looks the same to my Nethie’s — There is a LOT of variation within the Netherland Dwarf breed (Google image them and you’ll see), in addition to mixes as well, and I feel yours has the necessary “snowball on snowball” body shape, shorter ears, and snout face that is characteristic of a nethie!

I don’t see anything alarming. Nothing looks red or angry.

Ouch! Yes, I would ask the pet sitter to check her teeth to make sure the injury is just involves the lip and nothing else.

I wouldn’t be too worried yet. It isn’t unusual for you bunnies to have thin fur on their neck and ears. If you don’t see any sign of mites, then I would just wait and see if it starts to fill in.

He looks like he is a Nethie or Nethie mix to me. The head shape, ears, and size all suggest that. Green hay is generally considered a better quality than golden hay (with the exception of oat hay). This is not an absolute truth though. There are unscrupulous hay merchants that even dye hay green.

No particular reason we just don’t want cause any health reasons to rabbit but I’ve asked my mom and she says she will think about it more so we can get the other girl

I am not 100 percent sure but I do want to put into this as I do know I could help. It is not normal for sure but it might not be to much to worry about. It could be over grooming does , have you noticed him grooming a lot on his ear?

They should get hay somewhere else. I would recommend small pet select hay, but it is a little more in the pricey side. Oxbow is good for hay too and not super pricey, or maybe it was just a bad hay bale.

Timothy hay is typically supposed to be a nice green color. When it’s yellow like that it’s dried out and won’t be as appealing to any animal you try to feed it to (I work with horses and they’d snuff that.) Chloe, I doubt the pain meds would have made a difference for the outcome. 0.8 ml of dog metacam for a 5 pound bun (I dont know what Blue weighed, so I’m just guessing) is a pretty standard dose, so the vets can not have believed he was in a lot of pain. Is it normally golden? What type of hay is it? Oat hay is supposed to be golden, but it should only be fed little because it makes them chubby. Orchard and Timothy hay should be green.
