So, my first impression is that I think more pre-bonding would help. And I think you should go back to side-by-side set ups. One thing I haven’t tried but that might be worth considering is free-feeding pellets for Mickey. Since megacolon buns tend to have issues keeping weight on due to cecal dysfunction, it might help.

I think Wick is probably right then about it being diet-related. Excess protein in the diet (usually due to soy or alfalfa in pellets) can cause stinkier pee as well.

I’m curious about the increase in aggression. Did that happen when you brought the second bunny home? Or maybe it’s tied to always having to give her meds?

Oh gosh, I’m sorry this happened. I would explain exactly what you did here, and hopefully get a different technician if possible.

I tend to like to give buns more space to sort things out, so I would prob try letting them out in the morning and see how it goes. If it gets worse then you can go back to penning them. 🙂

I’ve used the Benebac gel. I think there’s just one type of it, I think I used the dog and cat version? My memory is that the gel seems to be more popular than the powder.

That is unusual! I haven’t had something like that happen with my buns, but I think a vet visit is a good idea. I have had buns change their chewing preferences when they are uncomfortable, so it could be something like her teeth making her restless.
