These things happen to the best of us, so try not to feel too bad! You were doing the right thing by trimming her nails, and even going above and beyond by going to the vet.

Usually a bit of pressure and some corn starch or styptic powder will stop the bleeding pretty quickly, so it’s good to have one of those on hand for nail trims.

That is so lucky! It’s so nice when they just go together like that. 🙂 And yeah if they will be away from home a lot then separating is def the way to go.

For reference, the main warning signs of trouble in a bonded pair would be chasing, fur pulling, excessive mounting, lunging, or any aggression or tension at all really.

Because of Covid all of our groomers closed and have no indication on when they will open again. Myself and my partner waited until we possibly could have to clip our rabbits nails. She is usually horrible and today we had no problems until I cut her nail on her back foot and caught the quick.

There was a substantial amount of blood immediately,…[Read more]

I’m sorry for your loss. Dogs are wonderful. They do leave huge holes.

Hi, I’m new to having rabbits,  but recently we have had a little boy and a girl bunny, both of which are speyed/neutered. So they have been living in 2 separate homes.. side by side for the last 2 weeks , and have shown alot of interest in each other. When one has free run of the garden they will come to the mesh and sniff/flop next to the one…[Read more]

Thanks, DanaNM!  That makes sense.  My dad and stepmom aren’t new to bunnies but they are new to pairs, so what you say would still apply.  🙂  (They had two solo buns sequentially before this.)  They also both work full-time so it makes sense to have the bunnies separated with an x-pen wall or something while they’re not there.

    To be honest I’m…[Read more]

I think my least favorite chore is vacuuming so have been considering getting a robot vacuum to help with that. However Dorian is a free roam bun with lots of toys & blankets scattered about and I am not sure how they would mix. He doesn’t tend to make a mess with hay, but cardboard bits and chewed up sticks is another matter. Anyone use a roomba…[Read more]

A rabbit can molt in patches and get temporary bald spots as as a consequence, without anything being wrong with the rabbit.

Smoke in the air could be harmful though, rabbits have delicate little lungs. It is of course harmful for humans too.

what a tasty little bunny loaf! & I am happy to see I am not the only one who uses weights to help keep the fencing stable.

It’s very interesting that they are 10 months and 2 years old and unspayed so far, but seemingly happy together!

At the rescue I volunteer with they do not usually separate same-sex pairs when they are spayed/neutered as long as they are happy together before the procedure. But then they are monitored very closely during the healing process.…[Read more]

I’m in an area in the western US where the smoke is BAD right now, and every summer, and I haven’t noticed any abnormal fur problems nor have the 2 people I know with bunnies mentioned it either. I would definitely be more concerned with resperitory problems when the smoke is heavy.

Thanks both for the info! His poos have firmed up quite a bit again and I’m doing hay and romaine only (he doesn’t seem at all sensitive to romaine) and will be adding back in the benebac only for a week followed by the once weekly dose. I will definitely stay away from the papaya tablets for now and when I reintroduce treats I’ll do the digestive…[Read more]

Mine is also shedding right now and I’m not gonna lie I’m kinda freaking out a little. He usually sheds evenly but this time he’s lost a lot fast in one spot and has a “bald” spot (not fleshy but lost all the froofy froof in that spot) but the rest seems more or less normal. I’m wondering if the smoke in the air from the fires here (Ontario) has…[Read more]
