Yes I am! It isn’t finished yet as some things are custom ordered and I’m waiting on them to be complete. If it goes to plan it is going to be hilariously adorable.

It is 115f here today and my air conditioning is struggling. I put all the small animals and reptiles in the coolest area of the house. Tater and Spud of course are loving getting the run of a new spot in the house.

Ok I will leave the new hay out for the few days. He eats the leaves out of any kinds of hay. It’s the stalking stems that causes the problem

Make sure to give each hay a fair chance, in terms of keeping it out for several days. Until a rabbit is willingly trying it and then is able to make an educated decision, I try not to swap things out too rapidly. I want my rabbit to try the food before telling me it’s nasty, haha.

I’m so sorry. It seems like it was the best choice, though heart-breaking. I really appreciate you sharing this story and it will really help others in the future.
Binky free Peter — you had such a wonderful, caring owner.

Haha thanks. His lion head gene isn’t very strong though. Tried some sample Timothy hay from local feed store today and guessed it didn’t not meet his approval. Going to put my bets on the orchard grass from rabbit hole hay that will arrive tomorrow.

I’m so very sorry you had to make this tough decision. I completely agree that it was the only kind thing to do.
Teeth are a weak spot with rabbits. Thanks to good living conditions, nutrition and vet care, many pet rabbits “outlive” their teeth. It’s very sad. I went through something similar with my bun Vilde.
Thank you for letting us know.…[Read more]

Peter's Mom replied to the topic Sloe Healing Dental Surgery in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years ago
Update for anyone who stumbles across this.
I wasn’t happy with the first vet and took Peter to a second vet for a second opinion. The other vet reviewed the records and looked Peter over. They said it appeared the infection had spread to his lungs and recommended a CT scan to get better imaging of his mouth. In doing the scan and physical…[Read more]

Thank you so so much for your advice it is deeply appreciated! I am very confused as she told me a lot of information that I personally didn’t agree with (like you can never give a bunny too much parsley.. but I read the high calcium can cause urinary sludge) and that it’s not possible to bond same sex. Just a lot of stuff that contradicted my own…[Read more]

I’m so sorry you lost Bun.
The meds your vet prescribed plus sub q fluids and the examination incl x-rays to make sure there wasn’t a blockage is the correct way to treat stasis. I’m sorry it wasnt successful. It’s sadly not very uncommon, but it’s still so, so sad.
As you know, stasis is a symptom rather than an actual illness. It can be a…[Read more]

I am completely lost and heartbroken. My sweet Bun passed away suddenly yesterday afternoon and I can’t shake the feeling that something went wrong.
Our 4.5 year old bunny, Bun, exhibited symptoms of GI stasis on Sunday night. I had pain and motility meds on hand from a previous episode of stasis so I administered those as directed hoping they…[Read more]
