It’s hard to tell a bit due to all the fur (gosh darn rabbits!). The pink-thing looks like an exposed toe “pad” that they have. Yes I am! It isn’t finished yet as some things are custom ordered and I’m waiting on them to be complete. If it goes to plan it is going to be hilariously adorable.

It is 115f here today and my air conditioning is struggling. I put all the small animals and reptiles in the coolest area of the house. Tater and Spud of course are loving getting the run of a new spot in the house.

Ok I will leave the new hay out for the few days. He eats the leaves out of any kinds of hay. It’s the stalking stems that causes the problem

Make sure to give each hay a fair chance, in terms of keeping it out for several days. Until a rabbit is willingly trying it and then is able to make an educated decision, I try not to swap things out too rapidly. I want my rabbit to try the food before telling me it’s nasty, haha.

I’m so sorry. It seems like it was the best choice, though heart-breaking. I really appreciate you sharing this story and it will really help others in the future.

Haha thanks. His lion head gene isn’t very strong though. Tried some sample Timothy hay from local feed store today and guessed it didn’t not meet his approval. Going to put my bets on the orchard grass from rabbit hole hay that will arrive tomorrow.

I’m so very sorry you had to make this tough decision. I completely agree that it was the only kind thing to do.

Teeth are a weak spot with rabbits. Thanks to good living conditions, nutrition and vet care, many pet rabbits “outlive” their teeth. It’s very sad. I went through something similar with my bun Vilde.

I wasn’t happy with the first vet and took Peter to a second vet for a second opinion. The other vet reviewed the records and looked Peter over.
