The spot they do they best in is actully not neutral… we found this out by mistake when I had Cinnimon out and Ollie dragged his hideout to the side of his c age and jumped out ( He can’t do that anymore). Should I still do it there?

Sorry for your loss of Peri 🙁
I think since she’s not spayed yet, I would separate them. It should help a lot with the spraying, digging, and aggression. At this point pre-bonding isn’t too important because she will smell differently once she’s spayed.
As for the hay, it can be tricky to know if the bun is selective because they’ve been given…[Read more]

(Also, isn’t it wild how buns can injure themselves doing seemingly nothing, but then handle a fall like nothing happened??)

I agree that I would monitor for a bit more, and try to be sneaky about it so she doesn’t feel hovered over. As prey animals rabbits hide their injuries very well!
The safest thing would be to bring her in (worst case she gets a check up), but you might be able to give the vet better info with a bit more monitoring.

He’s now acting and eating normally, I’ll still keep a close eye on him but sincerely thank you everyone who commented.
I barely slept a wink and I was worried out of my mind but your advices really helped me keep calm!
Hope everyone has an amazing rest of their day <3

Bam replied to the topic Bunny is mad? in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 11 months ago
Your bunny is not mad. Whether buns can see spirit can be debated. What they definitely can do though, is to react with thumping to things humans don’t or can’t notice. They have a much finer sense of smell than we have, their hearing is more acute. They see the world differently than we do because we have the vision of predators whereas rabbits…[Read more]

I would monitor for any weird movements, sounds, or health-related behavior changes (poop, pee, energy, posture, appetite) for the next couple hours before deciding the vet is not needed. It can take a bit for a rabbit to feel secure and show what might be some issues.
Be vigilant about her body and see if you’re able to notice any swelling over…[Read more]

Okay so my rabbit scare the life out of me, so I thought he was going to do a zoomies, so I took my phone out to record him jumping and stuff. But like he look scared and he made true loudest thump I ever heard. There was no noise or anything, nothing in the room but he was staring at the wall so there’s was nothing to be afraid of, I’m not sur…[Read more]

So my foster bun Sierra had a bad fall this morning in our second room. She tried to jump from somewhere about waist-height, and I tried to pick her up, and unfortunately she fell on her face/back.
I’m having trouble deciding if I should bring her to the vet, as weirdly, she’s acting fine. She kept exploring the second room and seemed excit…[Read more]

Oh that’s so amazing to hear. It sounds like he had a pretty significant bout of gastric distress but hes working through it. Great job helping him throughout the night.
Keep taking a look for poops. He might have some gnarly ones soon.

Thank you for your response. I just talked to her previous owners and found out her diet was quite poor before. She would only pick at her hay and would eat a diet consisting of mainly pellets and veg. I am buying more varieties of hay, hopefully there might be one she is enthusisastic for. I will try to reduce her pellets, but I do feel a little…[Read more]

Hello everyone and thank you the support!
Around 4am he started getting more active and gladly lapped at the hay tea. He’s not doing the “I’m too weak to stand so I’ll lay weirdly” anymore. My mother came in my room to see him and he jumped up to go sniff her and greet her.
I called my vet and he said considering he got better on his own we ju…[Read more]

Yes, set up a tank. I have a ten gallon I want to set up as a planted tank, but no where to put it at the moment.

Some of the “problem behaviors” will probably be toned down once she is spayed. As for the poops and cecotropes, this could be due to her diet and lack of hay. How much does she get for pellets and veggies? Most bunnies will show interest in hay if their pellets are reduced. You can also entice her with dried herbs, etc. as a hay topper.

I agree with the suggestion about not picking up unless necessary. In my experience the more you try, the harder it is, because they anticipate it all the time. I think it’s more about handling skill and finding a way that works for your bun, and less about getting the bun to accept it.
I only pick most of my buns up for nail trims and deep…[Read more]

Bonnie loves the Sherwood formula mixed up a bit thicker than you would for syringe feeding… and she EXTRA likes it with a bit of banana mixed in! I was so thankful I got her to eat some willingly while we were on our move. Syringe feeding in a McDonalds parking lot was NOT going to be fun!

Hi everyone. It has been a long time since I last posted on this forum. Since that time, sadly our bunny Peri has passed away after years of health issues. We decided to rehome an adult female rabbit (Pandora) as Poe (our neutered male rabbit) seemed quite lonely.
Pandora’s previous owner told us she is healthy and very friendly (when we met h…[Read more]

I googled English Spot and Lionhead cross and they’re absolutely adorable! Mine is a red satin, not the mini ones, she’s the size of a cat, I had no idea she’d get this big, she’s my first rabbit as well and I had to do a lot of learning.
I pick her up when I have to but she’s never enjoyed it. I don’t know if this is the best suggestion…[Read more]
