Yes, thereโs minor improvements in her kidney values after treatment but itโs never within the normal range. The treatment seems to just stop the drastic decline. Her vet said the kidney damage canโt be reversed, only slowed down with the fluids? Do you have a different opinion?
She also has porphyria which her vet believes contributes to the k… -

Do her kidney values improve after EC treatment? If this is chronic kidney disease caused by EC, then you could see improvement. Unfortunately, frequent EC flares won’t make that easy.
And yes, dental abscesses can be very worrisome. Some people have seen success with antibiotic treatment if all of it cannot be removed surgically. Injections are…[Read more]

Hello from Canada!
My husband and I are first time owners of a baby bunny. He is 6 weeks old and is a dwarf X Holland lop named Gimli. We have Three Sons ages 15 12 + 8.ย This is our first pet as a family (hubby and I have owned a dog and cat before having kids).
Gimli has been home with us for about 5 days and he is so friendly and sociable I…[Read more]

It looks like a reaction at the injection site. If the swelling is going down, then that’s good. I agree that you should watch it to make sure it continues to improve.

here’s a picture. i don’t know if you can see clearly though. the swelling has reduced a bit today and there’s less pinkishness around the area. just a little white lump. some rabbit experts told me to monitor for 2/3 days and if it gets worse check with a vet.

If you really want it to work, yes, spaying the older female will give you the best chance so that her hormones do not add another variable into the equation. Even if she is not explicitly acting hormonal, the presence of a hormonal female can bring about hormonal behaviors in other rabbits who are fixed.

Thanks for the fast reply!
Thanks for the new link and the information, I feel more calmer now that I have some explanation for what’s happening.
I will stop the bonding process for now and wait till their are older. I will get them both spayed and then start the process via the link you provided.
So just to make sure: If I really want a quad…[Read more]

Spay/Neuter
Are your bunnies spayed/neutered? Yes, No, No, NoIf so, for how long (for each)? The older male is spayed. The older female isn’t, the younger female and male are not.
If not, why not? The younger male is yet 9 weeks old – but it is planned to get the younger male neutered.
Are you aware of reproductive cancer risk in females? If…[Read more]

I agree that there are generally positive signs happening. I concur with removing the litter boxes, as I too have found they can cause some issues. This includes things like hidey holes and potentially anything else you add to the bonding environment.
The small lunges are not “ideal”, but them not escalating to fights is good. They need to do a…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Is dominance/bullying behaviour too much? in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 11 months ago
None of those are outwardly aggressive signs, so that is a good thing! We worry when first meetings are immediately aggressive, but many of those behaviors aren’t things a rabbit would if particularly stressed by the other’s presence.
So wonderful that you’d like a hoppy ending for everyone. I think a slow approach is a safe way to go and you can…[Read more]
