I agree. If the problem is the litter, then changing to a more absorbent litter should do the trick. Then the stained fur will resolve itself after some time.

I agree that hardware cloth is a better option than chicken wire. You will need something to support it though. NIC grids are great too. They are sturdy and easy to zip-tie together to make larger structures.

I understand that your parents may not have anticipated the costs associated with owning a rabbit. A lot of people do. Hopefully you can…[Read more]

Cardboard cat scratchers! I find they are particularly well-used by rabbits who are relentless baseboard/wall corner chewers.

If the urine staining is an excessive amount, it may be indicative of a health problem, like a UTI or mobility issue.

If it does not seem medically-related, you can try cleaning litterboxes more often and/or using more absorbent litter so the urine is pulled away from your rabbit’s fur faster and is more dry to the touch. You can find different…[Read more]

Hello, does anyone have any tips on how to clean pee stains off my bunnies feet and nose? I’ve tried natural baby wipes but they don’t seem to work. Also, how can I avoid this problem once I get her clean? I’m scared of her getting Urine Scald.

Yes, he’s eating and I’m constantly keeping an eye on his stools. He’s definetly happy, he does the same thing before flopping down for a nap. I’ve seen bunnies sleep in strange positions, but he takes the cake. On his back, sideways, half twisted, whatever position he can get into he will! I’ve tried some toys, but no luck yet. He does like when…[Read more]

Oh, as far as toys, my buns really like anything made out of willow, organic palm plates, and cardboard cat scratchers. Even a paper towel tube stuffed with hay can be very entertaining for them.

I’ve been able to find exercise pens for around $40 on Amazon, search for “MidWest Foldable Metal Dog Exercise Pen / Pet Playpen”, the 30″ high one should be plenty high. You also can often find pens used from various places (online, garage sales, etc). Sometimes animal shelters even sell them at low prices because people donate them.

    That said,…[Read more]

Thank you! The rabbit info section was really helpful and I definitely will try some of those methods out this weekend. As for exercise pens, is chicken wire ok to use instead? I’ve looked for doggie play pens on Amazon before but many were $60-$70 and that is not a price my parents are willing to pay. Are there any fan favourite toys for c…

Your description of Phil as confused made me laugh, that’s a very kind interpretation of her lunacy, thank you!!

Yeah I think he came at her head on in a new spot on the fence and she just thought he was about to cross onto her side. I’ll do more swapping and although I think they could probably be bonded now, I’ll just keep going as I am for…[Read more]

That is all really normal! Buns will get used to sharing a barrier, but the second they think the other bun is possibly encroaching they can get defensive. I wouldn’t worry about it beyond just double checking it doesn’t happen again.

Bunnies can also display what’s called “referred aggression”. When they smell or see something they aren’t sure…[Read more]

Thanks so much! You’re like my fairy rabbit godmother 🐰 ✨

We actually had an unexpected incident after earlier. Phil was using her tray and my friend was petting her. Hopper came up to the bars where I hadn’t replaced the second barrier earlier by accident. Phil went up to him, grunted and went to bite him through the bars 😧 I shouted at her and…[Read more]

The poop wars may not go away till they are bonded, but it’s great they aren’t running the fence or acting aggressively otherwise. So happy for you!

Dana really hit the nail on the head. I would go to the link provided by her (including the rehoming one, if appropriate) and review the material thoroughly. You can then decide what you are and are not willing/capable of doing. Our forum members are happy to help answer specific questions, address concerns, and also brainstorm if needed.

Has he been weaned successfully? While 5 weeks is younger for when we’d want him separated from his mother, if he is showing adequate ability to eat pellets and hay on his own, separation would be fine. Re-introducing milk or other things to a weaned kit’s diet can cause gastric distress.

It sounds like there is a feeling of general comfort and…[Read more]

I have a 5week old lionhead. I know. Wayyy too early to be separated from his mom. Unfortunately, she started attacking him when he was just under 4 weeks old. He’s been fed alfalfa pellets, hay, and oats to try and make up for some of the calories he’s missing out on. She will attack him if he’s even put in her area for a few minutes. She is…[Read more]

Thanks 😊 swapping back was perfect, no annoyance just interested sniffing and exploring on either side. I probably need to look for no territorial droppings before I know that swaps have worked..? Phil did quite a few poos, even in his bed 😅 then he did a wee in it when he got into it after, so that needs a wash now. But overall, that was so fine,…[Read more]
