    Disaster 😭

Tried the second session there and Hopper was very aggressive and dominant. He bit Phil on the bum and ears and tried to chase her. Naturally, she fought straight back and they were almost up on their hind legs face to face. I mean this happened within 30 seconds. We separated with a bit of cardboard three times but each time he went…[Read more]

OK sounds like a great plan and works well around my schedule too.

Aw, I didn’t realise that the groomer was in a vulnerable position!! Poor Hops 🐰 he’ll get there I’m sure. Well, he’ll have no choice with Phil as she will submit to no man, woman, child, or bun 😂

Thanks so much again! Hopefully I’ll have nothing to say for another while if the…[Read more]

You can use larger diameter PVC pipe pieces to surround the legs. Or even heavy cardboard folded around the legs and taped. The tape wouldn’t be touching the wood, just the cardboard.

Timothy-based pellets are unlikely to trigger allergies.

I doubt a timothy hay allergy would be triggered by pellets.

Those Science Select pellets are actually fine. You just need to keep in mind that they are more protein and calcium dense due to the alfalfa, so be extra attentive to how much you are feeding.

You can see here for a comparison chart and what parameters one recommends for rabbit…[Read more]

<p class=”p1″>So today I set them up in the kitchen/living room for the first time. I didn’t buy new blankets but I washed the usual ones and laid some other blankets on top that they haven’t seen in awhile. They were busy at first checking out their new surroundings. They ignored each other way more and did their own thing. I bought them new toy…[Read more]

Well, Boo and Walter are officially twins.

Boo’s smokey ears are now pure white.Ā  Only their eyes are different.

Walter’s spay is scheduled for the 4th, hope all goes well.

You could make a ā€œskirtā€ to go completely around the bed out of NIC cube grids, if you don’t mind how that would look!

I’e also seen people get pieces of large diameter pvc pipe to put over furniture legs.

    Hi Friends,

I know this is the age-old question. I’ve had my 2 bunnies, Freddie and Hummus, for 4 years now, and mostly I’ve kept wooden furniture away from them/they don’t seem interested in painted furniture from Ikea (or maybeĀ  that’s because it’s a weird wood & plastic combo?). They’ve eaten part of my bedside table and a bookcase, but those…[Read more]

I agree 100% that the standoffs aren’t necessarily a bad thing, since they aren’t fighting.

I think longer sessions are really the way to go!

Also, if the bonding space is right in between their areas, but within smelling zone, then they may not perceive it as neutral. An area not within immediate smelling zone or sight of their home turfs would be idea.

That’s wonderful! I think just repeat exactly what you did for a few days, and then start bumping up the time if all goes well! Like you could do 15-20 min a day for a few days, then bump to 30 or 45, then an hour, etc. It’s always a good idea to repeat things that go well a few times to “cement” that behavior.

    I wouldn’t worry about banana at…[Read more]

    Great news!!!

We did a 15 minute session today after a few days of uneventful swaps. No more aggro at the fence since that last and only incident. Hopper’s old owner came to visit today so we did it together.

Well they were like old friends in the neutral pen!!!! Popped them both in and he came up to sniff Phil. Phil just sat up and groomed her…[Read more]

You have build a solid foundation which I also agree can now be pushed by longer sessions. Remember that non-interactions are still positive — there is no need to force positive grooming interactions, especially if there is no fighting.
