I might have to change the question now. Is it possible that rabbits fake illness for attention? I walked in with a syringe and her carrier to force feed critical care and now she is eating pellets and treats without an issue. I had three tests this past week and I couldn’t play with her for her “allotted” playtime of the day. Is it possible she…[Read more]

It could be gas. If it doesn’t resolve soon, then it could lead to stasis. Do you have any simethicone? Dosage for the 20mg suspension is 1cc every hour for the first 3 hours, then 1cc every 3 to 8 hours. You can also do tummy massages to help move the gas along. If she doesn’t start eating after a few hours, then she will likely need to see a vet.

Thank you! I think we have to wait a little longer before deciding to go to the vet, since last time she had the same symptoms and they just sent us home with critical care. I think I’ll give her some some of the critical care for now. Has any had experience with this sort of thing? Last time she just stayed quiet for a day with the critical care,…[Read more]

64 should not be too cold. If she is refusing all food including treats you need to try to change your plans and get her to a vet. A rabbit not eating can quickly become a life threatening emergency. You can also try giving her baby simethicone and critical care if you have some. If you have gone nuclear and tried her favorite treat and she…[Read more]

Hi everyone! My one year old mini rex Sage was doing fine this morning. She finished her hay from last night and had a few pellets. However, I noticed just now that she won’t eat pellets or treats anymore. She keeps lying down in her litter box, but she is can move fine. Sage had an episode like this last year, but she couldn’t walk. We took her…[Read more]

The tests for EC are notorious for producing false negatives. And even if they do detect EC antibodies, that doesn’t necessarily mean EC is what is causing the symptoms. It just means they were exposed to it recently. So yes, treating for EC when EC is suspected is actually very common. If the treatment works, it works. If it doesn’t, then no harm…[Read more]

I also believe it to be a neurological concern. I’ve never noticed an obvious injury whenever I’ve stopped at the farm to observe her. However, they do have some aggressive intact Flemish Giant bucks, so it’s possible she was attacked as a youngster and now distances herself from them. She hangs out in that spot by the road/chicken run and nearby…[Read more]

I’m very sorry you lost him.
My Bam choked on a pellet once, luckily he made it with “just” aspiration pneumonia as a consequence. It happens so fast. Buns are greedy eaters.
He was a beautiful boy and you gave him a life full of love. I think he is with Moxie in bunny Heaven now.
Binky free, sweet Loki ❤

I’m so sorry to hear about Loki’s passing. Binky free Loki~ you had a wonderful, caring owner supporting you.
Choking on pellets is a rare occurrence, and also one we cannot predict will happen. Rabbits who are very excited to eat things, like humans, can eat very quickly and that can cause a choking risk— typically it is fine, as all rabbits…[Read more]

Thank you for your concern over this rabbit. The plan with the vet sounds appropriate. The wobble does not jump out to me as a physical injury-looking wobble, and more a wobble I see from a rabbit just coming out of anesthesia or something, so that does make me lean more towards neurological or something offsetting balance (such as an ear…[Read more]

Hi all,
I recently found a bunny at a local farm that is wobbly. At first I thought she (still unsure of gender) was injured but Iâm thinking itâs something neurological. She wobbles and her back end is very unsteady. She can run but she sometimes falls over and then flails as she tries to get up. All the farm owners can tell me is that she’s abo…[Read more]

I know I donât post here often anymore, but I couldnât think of anyone else who would understand the pain it is to lose a rabbit.
Loki was such a goofball; so sweet and charismatic. He was so loved. He would have been 4 this spring. He was a surprise âgiftâ from my sister and her friend, and he grew to be such a large part of my life. He truly w…[Read more]

Situation: We got Casper a friend in Pumpkin, both male, Pumpkin neutered and Casper in neutered.
They spent almost two months next to each other in their separate cages, occasionally switching cages. Then, we neutered Casper.
A week after neutering, because Casper already showed few of any signs of unneutered male rabbits we introduced the two…[Read more]

Yeah, I don’t think paper towels will hurt anything. I assume you put hay in the litter box? You can put a layer on top of the paper towels.

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Rabbit bedding⊠please help fast in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 10 months ago
Paper towels would be fine as a temporary measure — any paper is easily going to break down in their stomach, so it should not be an issue short-term at all.

Also I wanted to add I canât watch them to see if they eat it because it is night where I am at so even if I try to stay awake chances are I will fall asleep.

Are paper towels okay?? I donât have newspaper and the only paper I have is colored paper so I donât think it is a good option because of the inks

You can actually just use some paper or lay down newspaper in the meantime until you can get some more!
