hii I’m moving to my first apartment this summer and my bunny will be coming with me. he will be roaming a 11′ x 14′ room but unfortunately it’s all carpeted. in our current house it’s all hardwood and my bun has rubber mats and blankets covering most of his room. so the original plan was to get a large tarp from walmart or TSC to cover the…[Read more]

I am seeking some advice and input. This forum has been so helpful and supportive I need some input. I have a bonded pair. The female has always been a tad standoffish but lately I notice she has been pretty antisocial. She will come out for treats then immediately goes back in their pen and stares at us. In the summer she had what seemed like a…[Read more]

I agree. It almost sounds like he’s trying to get away, like he doesn’t like having his head pet and he’s trying to back away from your hand but he’s being held there.

The picture looks more fur mite-ish. Regardless, the treatment would be the same – Either ivermectin or selamectin.

PSA – Just a little public service announcement. Although products containing fipronil (Frontline, etc.) are effective against mites, this ingredient is toxic to rabbits. Never use fipronil on rabbits.

I am booking my rabbit into the vet for multiple other problems that she currently has and I found this patch of skin near her ear and it’s a bit hard and crusty with a lot of  dandruff looking things and I can’t tell if this could possibly be something I need to mention to my vet too as they said rabbits can get something called walking dandruff…[Read more]

I have a bonded pair who are a little similar. I’ve had them about a year and a half. We had the female first, decided to adopted the male and bonded them (successful bonding with help of this forum!). Your post makes me feel better because I’ve been trying so hard to develop a relationship with them. My male is more interested in me then the fem…[Read more]

I dont quie understand what you are describing either. It it like he’s struggling to get away from you when you’re holding him?

He doesn’t really fall backwards and he doesn’t push my hand follows my hand  so it looks like I’m holding him on his back (I support his bottom) so it looks like he’s falling back but if I stop stroking mid stroke he goes back on my chest.

There could definitely be a health issue. Unaltered bunnies will often bite each other’s privates, especially when there’s mounting involved, so maybe he had an injury or something?. I would definitely get them checked out by a vet, you will need to anyway at some point to have the surgery. Vets typically require a health check prior to anesthesia.

I’m not quite sure what you’re describing. Does he completely fall over? Or is he pushing your hand backward with his head?

I got my rabbit about 1 week ago we have bonded very quickly and he seems very comfortable around me. But for the last 3 day every time I put my rabbit on me chest and stroke him (near the beginning of his ears) he falls back with me hand, I thought there was something wrong but he  only does it when I’m standing up and he doesn’t do it to anyo…[Read more]
