I’ve never caught a wild rabbit myself, but I’ve heard it can be tricky. You’re doing the right thing by contacting a rehab place and getting a trap. Kale and carrots should work great as bait. Just stay calm and move slowly to avoid scaring the little guy.

Sounds like Luna is quite the trooper! It’s so puzzling when they’re losing weight despite acting all happy and healthy. You’ve done the right thing by getting her checked and sending off bloods.
Hopefully, those results will shed some light. In the meantime, maybe try giving her some extra nutritious treats to help with the weight? Fingers cross…[Read more]

Hi
Thank you so much for your response. I was giving her recovery food, it made no difference and I was advised to stop to ensure she keeps eating hay. We are giving her a more variety of foods to keep encouraging eating as well. We are waiting for blood results I believe EC is included in the tests.
Poop is fine, I’m seeing her drink and use…[Read more]

Interesting! Pellets can definitely be a trigger, sometimes they just make the buns too excited. The attack during the petting is interesting. I wonder if maybe she just got confused? Buns can’t see very well right in front of them, so perhaps she mistook you petting him for him lunging at her? No way to know for sure, unfortunately.
Patience and…[Read more]

You should start to support feed her as soon as possible. Moderator Dana has used Emeraid recovery food for her buns in the past, it seems rabbits like that recovery formula. Critical Care (Oxbow) seems less popular with rabbits, but it’s a very good product and some buns will eat it from a plate if you mix it with something yummy, like canned…[Read more]

Hi all, thank for responding and apologies for not coming back to check sooner. The issue is I can’t get help since it’s not always in my yard so I don’t have anyone who can rush over on a dime. I think the xpen would be really difficult by myself. I have a firepit in the yard with overgrown grass around it and it likes to go there. It’s been…[Read more]

The fight broke out as I was petting them. She pulled away and so I was just petting my male when she attacked him. She also attacked him today when I sprinkled a few pellets into their hay. So I’m wondering if she’s just being possessive? A sign of dominance? It doesn’t seem to be the litter box as they will share it no problem. My male was free…[Read more]

triangulumlock replied to the topic How to set up space to continue bonding in a new place? in the forum BONDING 1 year, 2 months ago
Given your move to a larger place, here’s a thought: start by setting up separate pens next to each other so they can see and smell each other without direct contact. Continue with the supervised common area time to encourage positive interactions. This way, they can get used to the new space and each other at their own pace. Gradually, you can t…[Read more]

triangulumlock replied to the topic 2 month old female bunny not sure if need vet or if just her lady bits in the forum DIET & CARE 1 year, 2 months ago
Sounds like your girl is doing great otherwise, but the red, swollen butt might be worth checking out. Sometimes, diet changes or stress can cause irritation. Since she’s new to solid foods, that could be the culprit. However, if it doesn’t improve soon, or if she seems uncomfortable, a quick vet visit might be the best move to make sure it’s n…[Read more]

Hi.
I have a 6 going on 7 y/o dutch female who is behaving like a healthy, active rabbit. Even the vets are confused. She had an ear infection, now treated and clear. One side of her mouth dropped somewhat, I thought due to the ear infection. She has history with spurs and so because she had some I was advised a dental so teeth have been taken…[Read more]

Hi there, I recommend reading up a bit more on the bonding process. Here is a good starting point:
https://binkybunny.com/infocategory/bonding/
First you need to let the new bunny settle in for about a week or two without interacting with the other bun. You should have their pens set up side by side so they can start to get to know each other.…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic How to set up space to continue bonding in a new place? in the forum BONDING 1 year, 2 months ago
In the new place, I would set them up side-by-side in the room where they will be let out to exercise, and reserve another area (or multiple areas) of the house for bonding. The exercise space won’t be neutral because it will be close to their home pens. Do not let them out to exercise at the same time in the area near their pens, but alternate…[Read more]

Sometimes with bonding there are steps forward and back, so yes this can be normal. How many hours were they together when the fight happened? Did you see what triggered the fight?
I have found that adding litter boxes can cause issues, so I usually don’t add a litter box at all until sessions are very long (like 6 hours +), and I just put pee…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Helping a bun cope + getting him friendlier? in the forum BEHAVIOR 1 year, 2 months ago
I think in your situation continuing to spend as much time as possible with him is the best you can do. Keep a close eye on his eating to make sure he doesn’t go into stasis from depression. Bringing him in would be ideal, so he could spend more time with you but as you mentioned that’s not an option right now.
