Thanks so much, this helped a lot! I don’t mind the extra work or expenses for bunnies, but I am leaning towards maybe getting a cat. I’ve kept many small animals before and I really enjoy the whole bonding experience with prey animals and how special it is, but I think I might want to experience a new type of bond with a cat, in a way.
Thank you!

Caring for a cat versus a rabbit are two very different things — rather than outlining the differences, simply put, if you want a pet who is “clingy” and most likely to bond with you, I recommend a cat. Cats have been domesticated much longer and are more likely to bond to you, predator to predator, rather than a rabbit. Prey animals (like…[Read more]

Hi!
I’m trying to decide on whether I should adopt a bunny or a cat! I have petsat both before, but I feel like I haven’t spent enough time with a variety of different ones to really understand how they’re personalities vary.
For any of you guys with both, which ones are more playful/ attention seeking? I know cats are much more cuddly, but I’m…[Read more]

I’ve named the bunny Bonbon, but my mom said she wasn’t told if it was a boy or girl. How can you tell?
It’ll be a bit hard to separate the cats and Bonbon unless I use a cage, as my parents make me keep my pets in my room most of the time. I really didn’t want to use a cage, since I read that they are too small, but if I have to to keep everyone…[Read more]

After being given two doses of gas medicine and some critical care food and being harassed around until she bit me, she started moving around and eating again at about midnight and has been fine ever since. She acts energetic, bored, hungry, and normal. We did contact her owner, and she said that Amber is bad to sometimes go into 12-24 hour slumps…[Read more]

You need to inform her owners. If my rabbit was poorly in someone’s care I would want to know and I would want them to bring her to the vet.
get her vet contact from her owner and bring her to the vet. Refusing food for 9 hours is definitely a vet visit in my eyes.

Bam is correct. It sounds like this new bunny is overwhelmed with his new environment. When a new bunny is brought home, it is best to keep them in a smaller area like a room or an xpen and limit their interactions with other animals in the house. Let them get used to the sights and smells and, of course, you (the bringer of food and good things).…[Read more]

How is she doing this morning? I agree that if giving simethicone and CC hasn’t helped, then a trip to the vet is in order.

My guess is the new bun doesn’t feel secure in his new home. This is normal with rabbits. A rabbit that feels threatened will either run and hide, or attack the threat.
Can you make an enclosure for the bun, one that only he has access to? It should have a hide house, (an upside down cardboard house with two door holes cut out will work fine),…[Read more]

My mom just got me a rabbit and for the first two days, it did fine with my other pets, but now it’s attacking my feet when I walk, my cat, and my dog. It does fine with my kitten, though, and isn’t bothered by him. How can I get them to get along?

Hey
After 9 hours I would definitely intervine. About 6-12 hours without food and pooping is considered a veterinary emergency for a bun.
I understand the aggression can be offputing for handling her but I would suggest that she has entered the ‘danger zone’ now and a vet trip is in order or minimally some at home treatment if you cannot reach a…[Read more]
