I’m sorry for your loss. 🙁  I’ve been in your situation before, it’s tough. It’s really your call as to when to start trying to bond her again. I’ve found that my buns that have lost their partners usually benefited from me bringing home another bunny relatively quickly, but you also don’t need to rush out and get another rabbit as long as Kira…[Read more]

    Hello everyone.

I hope you doing great. I noticed today that my 6 month old male rabbit has a small white mark in it’s eye (see photo). I have never seen that mark before. May someone explain me what is that? Also I am going to visit vet soon 😁

    First post!

Sadly we lost Bdub our 11 year old  male Dutch on Friday the 7th. Been a sad time for us, but also his mate, a 10 year old Florida White named Kira. Kira is very healthy, although not as active as she used to be, she is still full of energy at times. We can tell she is grieving. How long should we wait to try to bond her again? It…[Read more]

I think daily meloxicam is a good idea… usually it tastes sweet and most buns will take it willingly if they aren’t already ill. I also know of people who’ve started training buns to take meds from a syringe by starting with a syringe filled with mashed banana. Maybe something like that could work? Start with just banana, and then once she’s…[Read more]

Sorry to hear about your troubles with the small poops as well, I’m glad you were generally able to tell what the cause was. It’s good to note about the gradual small poops with age! I will keep that one in mind.

Yes, we did take her to see two vets just before this post, including our exotic who health checked her and she appeared fine, normal…[Read more]

The good news is they have increased in size a bit now.

We have been butting hay closer to her sleeping area and since then the poops have improved…  I think your suspicions of arthritis could be a culprit, I’m wondering if she’s feeling too sore to move too much and that’s why she not going to the designated litter area for hay. She does show…[Read more]

They don’t sound bonded to me, but rather they have reached a tolerance phase. At this point it wouldn’t be safe to have them live together full time or be together unsupervised.

I think your options at this point are to keep going with long sessions in neutral space and see if you reach a breakthrough (sometimes it can take a few days together,…[Read more]

Hmmm, it could be territorial, but has your vet considered EC? Urinary incontinence can be an early symptom. Bun Jovi also lost his box habits as he aged and I thought it was just due to aging, but as time went on additional EC symptoms appeared.

It could be due to the other rabbit as well, or at least that’s contributing. I did have a bun with…[Read more]

Rabbits often prefer stationary things to chew. You could try to make a wooden chew toy that is heavy enough or affixed to something so it can’t move. It could mimic a baseboard. For the actual baseboards, some people will cover them with cardboard. It isn’t attractive, but it keeps the baseboards from being completely destroyed.

    Some bunnies…[Read more]

As long as no chemicals have been used, the damaged leaves are not harmful. I imagine you already wash everything before feeding. Washing would remove and larva, etc. on the leaves. Accidental ingestion of a larva or two isn’t harmful though either.

I agree. Considering the new bunny corresponds with the loss of litter box habits, it seems very possible that this is territorial in nature. If when bonded, bunnies can have poop and pee wars… even one-sided wars.

    Hey y’all

My 6(?) year old spayed Dutch (female) is being an absolute menace in our new apartment. Some behaviors are consistent with what she would do in the old place but they’re even more prevalent now.

She’s being aggressive towards us at times (especially my husband, she seems to have learned she’ll just get pushed away repeatedly by…[Read more]

Yes, there is hope for an 8 years old to recover. EC often manufests in buns that are older. The infection can happen when the bun is very young, then the body’s own immune defense is strong enough to keep the symptoms at bay for many years. As we age our immune defense gets weaker, and opportunists like e c will grab their chance when they see…[Read more]

That’s great to hear 🙂 I’ve done the 24h bonding now and wanted to give a small update. He had some stress poop when they were in the pen. They did lay apart most of the time on different sides of the pen. She laid down next to him once. They ate together. She bit the bars a few times over this period (I thought mainly unneutered/unspayed buns do…[Read more]
