HarryMila started the topic Was my Harry bun whimpering because he realized Mila was death? in the forum RAINBOW BRIDGE 1 year, 2 months ago
I had 2 bunnies. Mila passed away yesterday after a very bad GI stasis she was not able to overcome. Since she had a chronic gi stasis desease we did y need to take her to the vet and instead the vet trained us in how to take care of the episodes and would refill our medicines.
unfortunately she passed away yesterday, Harry our other bun seemed…[Read more]

I usually wait until there have been 48 hours without any incidents to leave them unsupervised together (especially if I’ll be leaving the house). You can always separate them during the day while you’re gone if you are unsure!
It sounds like you have a good amount of time left to supervise them though, so I think you will probably feel more…[Read more] -
DanaNM replied to the topic Need help encouraging senior rabbit to eat more hay in the forum DIET & CARE 1 year, 2 months ago
How old is she? Arthritis can be in the jaw as well, which can reduce hay eating, or the antibiotics could be reducing her appetite. With my senior it helped to offer him oat hay in little piles near where he rested, but eventually even that wasn’t quite enough. If her hay consumption is really down then you may need to start supplemental feeding…[Read more]

I have a senior bun who is not eating enough hay, she loves pellets and veggies but is especially picky when it comes to hay. I took her to the vet recently because she’s been having some respiratory problems and she was prescribed antibiotics. The vet also took xrays to rule out any dental issues and her teeth looked fine, but we found out she…[Read more]

It’s hard to see in the picture. Is the white mark on the colored part of the eye (iris)? Or is it more of a blob “floating” in the pupil area?

Yes, EC can damage the kidneys. And the test for EC is notoriously unreliable. Most bunnies have been exposed to EC at some point in their life. The presence of EC in their blood doesn’t necessarily mean that is what is causing the problem. Vets generally treat based on suspicion (at least in the US they do). Incontinence and weight loss are…[Read more]

Keep in mind that bunnies are pretty inactive during the day. So laying around, etc. is normal. They will become active in the evening. Coincidentally, school is typically during the day. So your schedule should line up so that you can spend time with him when he is most active. I would encourage you to utilize this time to help combat…[Read more]

I’m sorry you lost Wally. I agree that it can vary from rabbit to rabbit. Some will become depressed and withdrawn, while others will become more clingy to their human. I think your best bet is to try to spend time with your surviving bunny and just see how he does. You can always adjust things as you go.

Wow that’s so hard to lose 3 like that. I can’t even imagine how your surviving bunny must feel. At this point little Ben is doing better than I expected but it’s breaking my heart because he keeps grooming this fluffy cat toy. I already have some stuffed bunnies on the way and now I’m trying to decide if I should start attempting to bond him with…[Read more]

Omg I’m trying to bond 2 boys also. They seem to be playful but after awhile the new bun tends to scare the other one and there’s tons of hair… I’m probably doing this All wrong. I wish I had more guidance. Much luck to you.

I’m about 28 hours into the bonding session with only one fight where I separated my boys for about 30 minutes to cool down. They’ve gone about 7 hours since that fight so if all goes well for their second night, I’m calling them bonded!
This is our second bonding session, the first one happening about 2-3 months ago and ended horribly after 33…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s so hard, especially for the rabbit left behind.
I understand what you’re going through as I also now have a lone rabbit who for 7.5 years had never been alone, ever. She was a part of a group of 4 and I lost 3 of them within the space of 3 years. I was down to a pair last year until my frenchie passed sudde…[Read more]

I have successfully moved them in together with no more fights or any issues. They’re still at a stalemate though. They eat together, sleep near each other, follow each other around and are generally always in the vicinity of each other, but still no grooming or affection towards each other. They still occasionally try to mount each other, so they…[Read more]

Rabbits are social animals and should have same species companionship (though must be spayed and neutered as intact rabbits can be pretty aggressive towards each other!). So even if you weren’t in school all day and spent every moment with him, it still wouldn’t make up for the fact he doesn’t have a rabbit friend of his own.
They are very socia…[Read more]

He was about 2 feet away when Wally passed also and thumped when I put him near his body. He’s been cuddling up with a fuzzy cat toy so I ordered him a couple of stuffed bunnies to see if he likes one of them better. We actually have another rabbit and couldn’t make a trio work. This little survivor was odd man out. I think we’re going to try to…[Read more]

I’m so sorry you lost Eally.
When my Mango passed, his bonded girlfriend was in the same room. I let her sniff his dead body, she had the most puzzled expression on her face 💔
We just spent a lot of time with Snöa after. We still do. It took 2-3 days before she stopped being withdrawn and had started to eat properly.

I lost my precious Wally suddenly last night. No emergency vets here take rabbits and I couldn’t even nurse him through until morning. I let his bonded friend see his body, and he watched him die, so he does understand what happened. I feel like it’s impossible to get trustworthy search results now so I was just looking for resources or advice for…[Read more]

Update: we have seen a second vet who was just as baffled by Luna’s condition and recommended we make an appointment with a specialist, which we did.
Unfortunately it’s taken some time for him to receive her history and so was unable to do much today but given her age and what he can see, he is thinking kidney failure and asked for a urine sample…[Read more]
