    I’m sorry for your loss.

I haven’t witnessed that behavior. When my Snöa’s husbun passed she just seemed so very puzzled and subdued, but we were at the vet so the whole situation was abnormal. Then she was withdrawn for a few days. We spent extra time with her and made sure she ate.

    Binky free, Mila

I hope Harry bun will be ok.

I agree. Baytril can cause symptoms to improve when a bunny is suffering from EC. The symptoms return once the Baytril is stopped. They aren’t sure why, but it seems to have a therapeutic effect. But it does not treat EC or send it into remission like fenbendazole does. I do find it odd that your vet is suggesting euthanasia after they were…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m sure Harry knew that Mila was sick and understood that she had passed. I think they often will distance themselves in the final moments as an adaptation to avoid predators (in the wild, being near a poorly rabbit would put you at higher risk yourself). I haven’t witnessed that exact behavior but rabbits are known to…[Read more]

    Awwww that’s wonderful!

Dynamics in pairs are really different that trios, and you are right that the circumstances have changed. Fingers crossed it keeps going well!

I’m sorry, that’s really frustrating. I know that fenbendazole can cause bone marrow suppression, but I’m not sure if that’s the case for albendazole.

If she still has lust for life, then I’m also surprised that the vet would suggest euthanasia (especially when they were also pushing you to do an expensive scan!).

Penicillin can be hard on buns…[Read more]

hi we paid for tests a few days ago that were sent out, results came back today, and the vet says her red blood cell count is low, NOW they want to do another test in house to make sure its actually correct and to stop the EC meds. what is going on?! seems like this never ends. she keeps mentioning euthanasia but i dont see how thats ok…[Read more]

I just lost my boy Wally and I’m distraught still so that probably has something to do with the crying 😭 But, that said, a few years ago I tried very hard to add Clover to Wally and Ben’s bond and it just didn’t work. They both loved Wally so much and couldn’t get along well with each other. We lost him Monday and Ben has been grooming toys, and…[Read more]

I had 2 bunnies. Mila passed away yesterday after a very bad GI stasis she was not able to overcome. Since she had a chronic gi stasis desease we did y need to take her to the vet and instead the vet trained us in how to take care of the episodes and would refill our medicines.

unfortunately she passed away yesterday, Harry our other bun seemed…[Read more]

I usually wait until there have been 48 hours without any incidents to leave them unsupervised together (especially if I’ll be leaving the house). You can always separate them during the day while you’re gone if you are unsure!
It sounds like you have a good amount of time left to supervise them though, so I think you will probably feel more…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Need help encouraging senior rabbit to eat more hay in the forum DIET & CARE 1 year, 1 month ago

How old is she? Arthritis can be in the jaw as well, which can reduce hay eating, or the antibiotics could be reducing her appetite. With my senior it helped to offer him oat hay in little piles near where he rested, but eventually even that wasn’t quite enough. If her hay consumption is really down then you may need to start supplemental feeding…[Read more]

I have a senior bun who is not eating enough hay, she loves pellets and veggies but is especially picky when it comes to hay. I took her to the vet recently because she’s been having some respiratory problems and she was prescribed antibiotics. The vet also took xrays to rule out any dental issues and her teeth looked fine, but we found out she…[Read more]

It’s hard to see in the picture. Is the white mark on the colored part of the eye (iris)? Or is it more of a blob “floating” in the pupil area?

LBJ10 replied to the topic Ear infection + weight loss in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 1 year, 1 month ago

Yes, EC can damage the kidneys. And the test for EC is notoriously unreliable. Most bunnies have been exposed to EC at some point in their life. The presence of EC in their blood doesn’t necessarily mean that is what is causing the problem. Vets generally treat based on suspicion (at least in the US they do). Incontinence and weight loss are…[Read more]

Keep in mind that bunnies are pretty inactive during the day. So laying around, etc. is normal. They will become active in the evening. Coincidentally, school is typically during the day. So your schedule should line up so that you can spend time with him when he is most active. I would encourage you to utilize this time to help combat…[Read more]
