Some say that extruded pellets are better bc the nutrients are more biologically available in that type pellets. Oxbow are compressed pellets. I dont know which type is best, my rabbit savvy vet says any premium quality grass hay based pellet with a fiber content of at least 20% (insoluble) fiber is good. I use extruded pellets for my bun, but I…[Read more]

I’m wondering if anyone knows if the Oxbow Essentials senior rabbit food is actually better for them than other pellets? It mentions protein and I wasn’t aware that adult rabbits at any life stage had different protein needs. It also mentions ginger, turmeric and chamomile. My buns actually eat a few chamomile flowers as a little treat most days…[Read more]

Hi folks,
This is a crazy question I know, but as first-time neurotic parents, we wanted to see if anyone in this sub-reddit has any experience with this. Our two rabbits live free-roam in our living room, and our 7 month old is about to start crawling and is at the stage where literally everything he touches goes into his mouth.. The rabbits…

My senior rabbit Lola died in my arms today. She was recovering from being sick and took a turn for the worse. I held her in my lap the whole way to the vet and half way there she closed her eyes and stopped breathing. She will be reunited with her bonded partner Nugget who passed away 3 years ago. I do not know what caused her death but she was…[Read more]

how do i know when its time to let her go ?
i think she is experiencing negative side effects from the penicillin, she barely wants to eat only cheez its, blue berries , bananas, and thats pretty much it.
i have a visit w/ vet today to test for if shes indeed anemic and if she is not, they will prescribe fenbendazole. poor girl

I’m glad she’s eating a bit more! I would keep up the critical care, especially if she’s eating it willingly (my senior hated critical care but loved Emeraid!). I’m sure you’ll get a better idea of where she’s at once she’s done with her antibiotics.

She was a rescue so we don’t know her exact age but we estimate she’s around 9. Based on the imaging done most of her arthritis seems to be around her hind end. I have Oxbow Critical Care so I’ve been giving her some of that. She’s eating more hay now so I’m not as worried but I’ve been in contact with my vet regardless. I’m going to ask her if…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Was my Harry bun whimpering because he realized Mila was death? in the forum RAINBOW BRIDGE 1 year, 1 month ago
I’m sorry for your loss.
I haven’t witnessed that behavior. When my Snöa’s husbun passed she just seemed so very puzzled and subdued, but we were at the vet so the whole situation was abnormal. Then she was withdrawn for a few days. We spent extra time with her and made sure she ate.
Binky free, Mila
I hope Harry bun will be ok.

I agree. Baytril can cause symptoms to improve when a bunny is suffering from EC. The symptoms return once the Baytril is stopped. They aren’t sure why, but it seems to have a therapeutic effect. But it does not treat EC or send it into remission like fenbendazole does. I do find it odd that your vet is suggesting euthanasia after they were…[Read more]
