She’s not wasting her time 😄
She could be feeling extra territorial now right after her spay. It is not uncommon for newly de-sexed rabbits to go through a period known as “post-neuter craze”. During this time they can be extra territorial, poop- and pee mark, chin everything, display “cage-aggression” and courting behaviours (circling, honking,…[Read more]

A little apple each day isn’t the end of the world! I got creative with different baby foods with Bun Jovi’s daily meds. I think the kale and apple one was a hit if memory serves

Ok that’s good. I hope she starts feeling better soon. It’s great she will drink water on her own. You can also offer her hay tea, it’s great for poorly buns:
Hay tea – For anybunny who doesn’t drink enough, especially for ill or recovering rabbits

Thanks everyone for the extra info. I’ll try the old bones mix whenever it’s available again lol you can get dried ginger and turmeric in little squares rather than ground up so if I decide to try that I’ll just do one tiny square. I think the only concern with those in humans is that it can thin your blood a little so that could be a similar…[Read more]

Thanks!
I must admit I’m a bit worried about daily Loxicom because of the problems it can eventually cause, she could be older but is suspected about 7-9 yrs old so I hope it’s not too young to start daily meloxicom.
Never the less I have began trialling everyday Loxicom. She is offended by banana haha, thumps and runs when you show it to her……[Read more]

I would be worried about dosage with adding turmeric and ginger myself, but I did used to give my senior the Oxbow joint support treats regularly. He also seemed to benefit from the Floppers Garden “Old Bones Mix” that had some soothing herbs in it and was formulated by an herbalist. I think a lot of these products are more helpful with prevention…[Read more]

I would stop the pencillin before jumping to euthanasia, personally. Are you syringe feeding her a recovery food (like critical care)? It’s really important to feed her if she won’t eat hay on her own. Cheez its and fruits are only going to make her feel worse.

Amazing thank you!
My female bun has just been spayed and she was chinning everything in her area after I cleaned it and I just wondered if she was wasting her time bless her 🤣

<p style=”text-align: center;”>I noticed what looked like a domesticated rabbit in the back yard that had apparently been living in a fenced off area we keep yard tools in. She (I think) let me walk right up to her but wouldn’t let me pick her up. So after getting a net I caught her & brought her inside. I quickly fell in love with her. She is…[Read more]

Thank you for taking this bun in!
She is probably a mixed breed, most pet buns are. Her big ears indicate that she still has quite some growing to do.
Rabbits dont seem to care at all about breed, they arent as “different” personality-wise as dog of different breeds can be. This is probably because they havent traditionally been bred for work.…[Read more]

The glands probably work but the rabbit’s own scent will have changed to an extent.
Neutered rabbits certainly keep chinning stuff. If you have two neutered rabbits living separately and you have them change places (common in pre-bonding), the rabbits will chin the other bun’s stuff. Then when you put them back in their normal places, they will…[Read more]

Random question but does anyone know if a rabbits scent glands under their chin still work after being spayed/neutered?

I think the logic surrounding the extra protein is that senior buns can have trouble keeping weight on, so extra protein may help them maintain. And yes, turmeric and ginger are anti-inflammatory, which isn’t a bad thing for senior buns. There are supplements available though too, so you could give those things to them that way.

Thanks for the response. I haven’t heard that about bioavailability but I have heard that compressed pellets are more of a choking risk. They really like what they’re on so I think I’ll stick with it for now then.
