I agree. It could be syphilis. If that’s the case, it needs to be treated. It won’t go away on it’s own.

Yeah, I would say no different than a piece of corn puff cereal.

Just a little update. Wednesday, 6/20/24 we drove down to Phoenix and adopted Mallow & Sage from the Arizona Humane Society. They are bonded, 4 year old male/female and are very sweet bunnies. We hope to bond them with Kira. Will keep you all posted. Sorry, I tried to post pictures but was not allowed for some reason.
Thanks,
Jeff

On the mend!
She weighs 1.13kg (she was 0.86) 🥰
Been advised to give pellets for protein to help build her back up and monitor her weight but her behaviour is normal and she’s functioning normally and we have even had a couple of flops. It’s nice to see her laying down properly and actually chilling out, she deserves it
Thank you again…

You seem to have a good vet. I’m sorry this happened, I don’t think it’s fully understood why some individuals react badly to anaesthetics. Some do though, humans included.
I hope they’ll be able to get her to eat soon. I think it was wise of you to let them keep her there, although I do so understand the instinctive wish to bring her home…[Read more]

Hello everyone! This is my first time posting on here and I wasn’t able to post a new topic in the rabbit health section so apologies for this being in the wrong section.
We have a new bun who has just turned five months and we took her in to be spayed today. We had a call from the vet after a couple of hours to say that she has reacted badly to…[Read more]

A healthy rabbit poo would crumble very easily, especially with moisture so I do not think it is a particularly higher choking hazard than a stale cheerio or corn puff cereal piece.

Agreed syphilis is a possibility. Regardless of cause, the corners of the mouth being dirty becomes a very easy breeding ground for fungal infections, so having a vet appointment to assess this is best.

He’s 9 months old hes about to be 1 in October. The itching just started around the time I noticed that my cat had fleas. They are both inside animals but my cat got fleas from my mom’s cat who goes outside. And my bun just eats Timothy hay and occasionally I give him snacks because he has a sensitive stomach

How old is he? Sometimes very young buns and puppy dogs itch themselves a lot.
Rabbits can get food allergies and other types of allergies.

This looks like it could be rabbit syphilis. (It’s not the same kind of syphilis that humans can get, and it’s not contagious to humans).
It is treatable with penicillin injections, and it needs to be treated. (Penicillin must only be given as injections to rabbits, never orally).
You should see a vet about this. It’s not normal and you havent…[Read more]

I don’t see any scaly areas on his skin. I looked all through his fur and there is nothing. He’s itching on his face and ears and I see him nibbling himself. I’m honestly confused
