Baby food that has non-veg components (meat, fish, chicken etc) wouldn’t be suitable, but that’s obvious. The fruit ones tend to not have added sugar, but they’re as a rule sweet bc of banana or mango or pear, since kids of course like sweet taste. I’ve only given “baby smoothie” to rabbits, in tiny amounts mixed with meds.

    Meloxicam (loxicom and…[Read more]

That’s great, I didn’t realise buns could eat baby food, are there certain types that wouldn’t be suitable? I don’t have children so I’ve never actually bought baby food before.

And yes, thank you for the suggestion about the litter tray, we do have an easy access tray, we use an old cage bottom and have saw’ed off one of the narrow ends to…[Read more]

My vet will just prescribe it over the phone. No need for a visit. You can call your vet to ask. Just say your cat had fleas and you want to treat your bunny as a preventative. And yes, it’s typically the kitten formula. You just need to make sure you’re using the correct amount.

If you can’t get Revolution, then you could try Advantage (as Bam…[Read more]

Yes. I think the kitten one is what’s used for rabbits, mainly because of body weight. You want a dosage that’s as close to your bun’s weight as possible.

You will need to do at least one repeat treatment to get the fleas that are eggs now but will hatch later. Repeat treatment should be done about 8 days after the initial treatment (4 weeks in…[Read more]

The cat and dog one is safe for my rabbit?

Bam replied to the topic My bun is so itchy in the forum DIET & CARE 1 year, 1 month ago

Yes, Revolution (selamectin) is prescription only in most countries except Austrsl7a. Sometimes your vet might let you purchase it from their clinic without a appointment.

For fleas you can use Advantage. It has imidaclopride. In early stages of an infestation you might not see any fleas or eggs on the rabbit.

(PSA: Never use any compound…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Biting in the forum BEHAVIOR 1 year, 1 month ago

It is normal behavior, because rabbits havent been bred to not bite humans the way dogs have. If a dog bites a human and draws blood it’s unacceptable and it’s reasonable to think there’s something wrong with the dog, healthwise or mentally.

Rabbits can bite and still be normal. It’s inconvenient though, of course, so try not to “reward” the…[Read more]

My Lionhead who is mixed with Rex is 10 months and fixed. He is 98% friendly and loveable . However he tends to nip me from time to time. Twice now he has actually bit me and broke skin. First time was this past winter and my fault because I stuck my finger in his cage to pat him and it was dark so I scared him.
He has a pen attached to his cage…[Read more]

I think you should definitely wait at least another 2-3 weeks before doing more sessions. Willow’s hormones will take a while to settle, which can make things more volatile. Her scent will continue to change and sometimes in females it can take 4-6 weeks for their hormones to fully settle down. That time will also give more pre-bonding time. It’s…[Read more]
