I dont think he could mate through the diaper, I meant he could perhaps remove the diaper himself and go for it 🙂

I was only wondering if you perhaps had many buns, because that would be a more difficult situation, housing-wise. If there were many rabbits you could need help from the humane society. With 2 rabbits, the situation seems…[Read more]

maybe baby is my holland lop, she is a baby 5 month old and hopefully be spayed on the 6 of jan. with my vet. I foolishly agreed to foster these angora bunnies until theyre spay date. i’v only adopted 3 bunnies in my time. the others were about 4-6 years old in a span of 20 years. i;m a persian cat person so my maybe baby was an impulse adopt. the…[Read more]

French angora/Holland lop kits would most likely look extremely adorable. So that’s not a problem. Rabbits are however born furless and open their eyes after like 10-14 days, so they wont pop out fuzzy and loppy (the ears dont lop until later, if they lop).

Dont trust a diaper to stop Gretchen’s sexual urges. It only takes a second for buns to…[Read more]

    help help help

need an idea of what a holland lop and a french angora kit would look like.
I shall explain…. fostering two bonded female angora buns..regina george and gretchen. had them in a room secluded for a few week. brought them out for meet and greet with the plethora of animials in my house. i penned them in the open room down…

Thank you. I’m very worried that I will be starting the meds too late to fully help him since I (unknowingly) noticed symptoms quite a while ago. When he grooms himself he sometimes has balance issues. It’s a little offputting that I’ve told all of these symptoms to his vet but they never even suggested EC was a possibility. I’m starting to wond…[Read more]

I’m sorry Fresno is having problems.

Yes, panacur (fenbendazole) 20 mg/kilo per day for 28 days is still the gold standard for EC. Many vets will start treatment on suspicion. It does sound like a good idea.

Oh man that sounds like it could be a possibility then if Ivermectin helps but isn’t a cure. 🙁 I will definitely bring it up with the vet, thank you. Is Panacur what is usually used to treat it? I’ve read that vets will usually start treatment for it if it is even suspected so I really hope mine does. Since his symptoms aren’t that severe I would…[Read more]

Yes megacolon usually goes along with episodes of stasis and gas, but the weird poops usually come first.

I wonder if EC could be at play. It can cause urinary incontinence among other things. I do think blood work is a good starting point when something weird is happening, and I would mention EC as a possibility. Ivermectin does have some…[Read more]

Nope he’s a full Californian bun. His overall weight and body condition (aside from the dull, always-molting fur) are great, his appetite is great and he’s acting completely normal. But yes when I took him to his last appointment they ran a urine test because they suspected a UTI as well and it came back normal, no abnormalities. I’m not sure how…[Read more]

Ooh good to see you! But sorry Fresno is not doing well. Fresno has hotot-type markings, right?

The large oval poops alternating with mushy poops unfortunately sounds like it could be megacolon/ cow pile syndrome. It’s fairly rare but we see it somewhat regularly on the forum. It’s a condition that is linked to coloration (the “charlie” markings…[Read more]

Baytril is generally pretty easy on the gut. Although it’s not a standard treatment for molar trims or stasis, I don’t think it will hurt him. Since this started after the vet visit, I wonder if it would be worth doing a parasite screening? He could have picked something up while there? Coccidea can cause diarrhea and gas.

    Prolonged stress can…[Read more]

Thank you so much for reaching out. During the first visit, the vet found that his right molars were slightly overgrown, so they were trimmed. I believe this is what the antibiotics were for. The specific brand prescribed is Baytril suspension, with .8 mL every 12 hours for two weeks. When we brought him back to the vet today, they gave him…[Read more]

Hi all, owner of Fresno, Nora, and Quincy here. Can’t seem to get into my other account.

So, over the last few months I’ve been noticing weird things about Fresno. His poops are often coming out as like… thick and ovular. Not in a stuck-together-by-hair kind of way, just normal poop but big and oddly shaped. And recently he’s been leaving…[Read more]

Rabbits can get a GI imbalance from antibiotics, but with rabbit safe antibiotics, that risk is low. Antibiotics is not part of standard treatment for GI stasis. Some vets prescribe metronidazole (flagyl) if the bun has mucusy poop. Do you remember what antibiotics he was prescribed?

Did the vets suggest a probiotic supplement?

    Stasis recovery…[Read more]

My rabbit Marzian is five years old, and till now, he has never gotten sick before. We left him at the vet for a few weeks while we were on vacation (this was around thanksgiving), and a week after he returned home, he stopped eating and pooping. We took him to the vet’s office, and they checked his teeth and did an x-ray. They said they didn’t…[Read more]

Ah! Yes there could be a bit of excess calcium that’s causing a bit of irritation.  The high-calcium veggies that I cut out or reduced for that bun were dandelion greens, parsley, kale, and collards. Dandelion and parsley especially are also diuretics, which on one hand can help flush calcium out, but I did notice a ton more mounting with my bun…[Read more]
