What kind of cataract is it? Front or back? Also, cataracts can be caused by EC so you may want to take that into consideration.

Can you wean her off of it instead of just stopping?

Yes, peeing on the bed can and likely will still occur even when spayed/neutered. It’s important to keep in mind that rabbits are not “litterbox trained” in the same way cats are– rabbits tend to eat, poop, and pee at the same time, so it happens to be if you set up a box with hay, they will use it consistently. Thinning shears have the teeth on them. They just thin out the fur. Trimming shears would be more like regular scissors. I think you could try the thinning shears and see if it causes the fur to mat. Like I said, they did not work well with wool. But lionhead mane fur is a different texture.

Yes, that’s what I meant by shears. I guess I’ll just try and see. I actually saw a video where they just trim all around similar bun with normal scissors 😯

She could just be wary of that eye since it got poked… and then rinsed… and there was a lot of fuss. But I would have her seen by a vet soon if it doesn’t seem better after a couple of days. Sometimes a simple poke can cause a lot of damage, especially if a sliver of hay was left behind.

I’d like to thin out my Lionhead’s mane, basically all around face, but the sides the most important (ahhh, whiskers!). It’s much much thicker than other lionheads I’ve dealt with. It depends on the fur type. What are we dealing with? If it’s wool with guard hairs, then I would not recommend the thinning shears. Those seem to just make matting worse.
