Okay that’s what I was thinking 😊 I did explain to my daughter that he is telling her to stop.
usually I’m right there but I stepped out of the room and she told me the bunny was making a weird noise and she said it sounded like he was tooting. So I had her show me what she was doing with the bunny when he did that and he did it again and tha…[Read more]

Lol yes, a silver lining in an otherwise very frustrating situation.

I think you should supervise closely to see if you can get a better read on the situation. It sounds like your bun is telling your 6 year old that he feels threatened and to “back off”, so you should teach your child that when bun makes that noise, it means to stop petting. This is usually more likely to happen if the petting is happening within…[Read more]

Agree with Bam that syringe feeding, warmth, and pain meds are very important. It’s good that she started eating a bit on her own, but I would still syringe feed if she isn’t eating 100% normally.

Yay for cookies!
I’m honestly not sure on the amount, but I think if you aim for around a tablespoon or two of critical care per day, that’s probably a good amount for just supplemental feeding. If he starts eating less hay then you’ll know to scale it back.

That is very strange (especially concerning the hay and the litter box)! But glad you at least got the revolution prescription!

I just got back from an appointment with a new vet and she did give me a prescription for Revolution but I’m not a fan of things she was telling me. She told me not to use pine pellets as litter because it’s toxic to them even though I told her it’s safe and not the pine shavings, she kept repeating that it’s toxic and not to use it. Then she tol…[Read more]

You did good to take her in, warm her up and hand feed food. As long as she isnt eating properly and/or moving about, she will have trouble keeping her body warmth up, so you need to stay on top of that. (Many pains meds also lower body temp). Hypothermia is a huge risk, so it’s good if you can provide her with a warm water bottle wrapped in a…[Read more]

My rabbit was spayed last week. I had a trip planned but left her in the care of my mother (we had rabbits growing up and she’s a huge animal lover, so I was not worried). She sent me updates while I was away. Nala was eating, pooping, being a happy bunny. The day I returned; she was very lethargic. I checked on her immediately upon retu…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Managing Hock Sores in the forum DIET & CARE 2 years, 6 months ago
My bun’s sore hocks healed up nicely with the fur lined vet wraps, but I dont know how it would’ve been without the fur inside. Dana Krempels, a highly trusted source on rabbit health, says using rabbit fur in sore hock wraps is very important, so I just did that. I had quite a bit of bun fur saved from brushing my buns during molting, for needle…[Read more]

He loved the cookies! I don’t want to over do it, so what it a good amount?
And thanks Ana. His appetite is picking up more each day. Doing most of the things you suggested, though I trying to keep the sugars low so his only fruit is a bit of banana to help with getting him to take his meds. Once he’s done I will scale that back even more.

I can’t tell if my male rabbit is grunting or growling.
my 6 year old pats him on his head but the last couple of days she has very gently tapped him on the head.
today she was just patting him and he made that noise again.
im thinking he is telling her to stop but I’m not sure because he doesn’t do that to me.
he did it once a while ago w…[Read more]
