Yes it sounds like it’s definitely bunny puberty! Are you planning to get him neutered? That will help a lot with litter box habits. I do know one member here had a bun that reacted when she was on her period, but I think this sounds like puberty considering his age!

Bam replied to the topic Is salmonella contagious? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 5 months ago
It’s not common for buns to contract salmonella from their buns. Rabbits seem more resistant to salmonella than humans. If you wash your hands plus abstain from actually kissing your bun until you feel well again, I’d say the risk of your bun catching salmonella from you is very, very low.

Hi everyone. I am currently on vacation and I think I got some type of food poisoning- about 12 hours after dinner I had horrible stomach cramps, diarrhea and vomiting. I know that there are many things that could cause this, but i’m concerned that it could be due to salmonella. I am going home in 2 days and will see my bunny and I am concerned t…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Rabbit is peeing out of litterbox in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 5 months ago
It does sound like a form of territorial marking. Could you move his box so it sits on top of the favored spot? Some buns do seek out a lutterbox because its a litterbox, but its rather more common for a young bun to want to choose the “best” spot to pee in, regardless of what’s there. If you put the box on that spot, chances are good the bun will…[Read more]

Just to follow up on this in case anyone has a similar issue. I went a bit crazy and bought memory foam bath mats, the kids puzzle mat, and new 1/2” rug pads (I’ve been wanting to get these for a while so this finally pushed me to do so). I know the foam puzzle mats are not great for chewers, so I’m using it more as a pad underneath the area rug i…[Read more]

Hi!
So I have a question-my bunny Oreo, whom I rescued when he was abandoned in a local park in September of last year, has recently (just yesterday in fact) been peeing outside of the litterbox. He seems perfectly healthy and active: ears, eyes, nose, bum and fur are all clean and in good condition. He is still eating as normal and his poops…[Read more]

Try fruits. My bun initially wouldnt eat anything ‘wet’ except lettuce. She loves freeze dried strawberries and raspberries. Just make sure its only fruit. No added sugars, or anything else.
