It’s not really chunks and no loose fur seems to be hanging off them but I feel like the butt off my dwarf is a little shabby lookingsometimes. He does have a very faint line along his body but nothing like the photos I’ve seen where a shedding bunny has a dramatic line with visibly longer fur on bottom and short on top.
They’re a dwarf rabbi…[Read more]

How long was she on the last antibiotic? It is definitely possible that it knocked the bacteria back, but then the antibiotic was stopped too soon and the bacteria recovered.

We are a bit puzzled by symptoms my rabbit has been having! About 2 months ago she started sneezing and making little honking sounds she never had before (almost like she is congested). We went to the vet and long story short she ended up trying 2 different antibiotics, getting GI stasis, and finally recovering. The second antibiotics cleared up…[Read more]

I got a few lettuce plants from a local greenhouse that’s labeled “green ice lettuce”. Is this the same thing as green leaf lettuce? If not, is it safe for rabbits? (It has ice in the name but it definitely isnt iceberg.)
I also have another question, is boston lettuce safe for rabbits? I was feeding butter lettuce but the store here got rid of…[Read more]

Hello,
I have 2 male neutered lionheads that I am trying to bond, Leo and Pete. We had been bonding them for 4 months and had finally worked our way up to their first overnight. Everything seemed to be going great and they were together in a neutral pen 24/7 for about 2 weeks. The night before “move-in” day into what their living space would be,…[Read more]

Thank you so much for the reassurance. They’ve been in a 4×4 for the past 2-3 days in their neutral territory while I’ve been completely neutralizing their forever home (the room Arizona once free roamed) by rearranging/ replacing furniture and completely washing the room in vinegar. Do you think they’re ready to go upstairs and “cement” their bon…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Bunny lifting up his tail in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 4 months ago
We’re going to need some more context. What is he doing when he’s doing this? Is he using the litter box? Is he alerted to something?
When my bunny is wary of something new, he will crouch down and extend his head forward trying to sniff the offending object. Sometimes when he does this, his tail will move up and down.

It depends on their fur type. Some bunnies will shed fur 365 days a year. And some bunnies will “blow their coat” all in one go a couple times per year. If your bunnies are in the couple of times per year category, then you should see the fur loss slowing down. It can take a few weeks though. Has it been steady? Or is the fur coming off in “chunks”?

I’ve been brushing my little guys almost daily for a few weeks now but I’m still able to brush out fur. Is this normal? When might I be able to stop brushing them daily?

Hello! My male bunny, 2 years old, started lifting his tail up and down recently. He never did it before, now he does it few times a day, he would lift it up and down up to 10 times than stop. Does anyone know what it means? Thank you!

How is she doing today?

Poop output can definitely vary throughout the day. If she is eating, I wouldn’t be worried. As for the “log”, it sounds like an extra cecotrope. As Dana explained, it isn’t unusual for young bunnies on a rich diet to have excess cecotropes that they don’t bother to eat.

Welcome to the world of being obsessed with bunny poop! It’s a requirement for bunny parents 🙂
It’s common for young rabbits to produce extra cecotropes (soft poops that they usually eat straight from their bums) because their diet is more rich. Excess cecotropes can also happen from a diet change (such as a switch in pellet brands). If not…[Read more]

Minty is my younger sister’s rabbit, and is approximately 3 months old. My sister only adopted her a few days ago, at which point Minty’s poop was always very mushy and moist (they had not been feeding her adequate amounts of hay) but within a day of giving her unlimited alfalfa hay they became a mostly normal consistency and shape. Additionally,…[Read more]
