  • Balding during a shed? - 6Buns 02/14/2026 10:55 PM
Hey all! I was grooming Pebbles today and as I am getting more hair then I thought I would get being her first noticed shed.  I noticed balding on her back end and wondered if that is just because of her shedding or something else underlying it.  She has always been a healthy girl just…
  • Hello, I just wanted to provide an update. His blood work revealed that he has an acute E.C. infection with a rather high titer. About four weeks after I first noticed issues, he is now being treated with Panacur for cats and dogs (half line), and his partner is being treated as well. I am…

My bun Bam used to do this with my mum. He adored her. She had a special bunny long skirt when we visited. Maybe he got so comfy in her lap that he didnt feel up to leaving when nature called? He could also pee on the sofa at home with me, when we had…

LBJ covered the main points. I’ll also just point out that I truly believe rabbits cant comprehend a human body. Obviously we smell like us, but I doubt a rabbit can actually tell if they’re peeing ON you as opposed to marking something that smells like you.

Hello, thank you! I did switch his hay from timothy to orchard after his teeth floating, unfortunately it didn’t help him. I made him another vet appointment and hopefully he can get the correct diagnosis and can recover soon, I miss him running around everywhere and getting into trouble. Thanks again,

Hello, elongated tooth roots was what I feared. I made an appointment for him with a different vet to see if maybe a second opinion can help and an xray to check his teeth. Thanks,

Usually when bunnies pee on humans or soft things that smell like humans, it is them trying to claim the person or that soft area. Peeing covers your scent with their scent. Hence why we see a lot of complaints about bunnies peeing on beds, etc.

Hey all! so Pearl will come up to me and start licking me for what feels like a long time, then he climbs onto my lap till he is close to my body then pee’s, I don’t get mad when he does this as I do not understand why he does it I just quietly…

I’ve had several buns, too, but not all have had stasis. I haven’t had any with dental issues, either (one bun was on a “watchlist” but it never developed into a problem ultimately). However, it seems like some buns have been repeat offenders with stasis/gas issues, so we know to watch them carefully. Our biggest…

I don’t think so. I’ve had bunnies that had no stasis episodes and they lived very long lives.
  • Bun health issue frequency - mia 01/31/2026 12:21 AM
I keep reading people claiming that stasis is inevitable for all buns and I’m so confused. Including current buns, I’ve been owned by 10 buns over the years and none have ever had stasis. There was one bun that had stasis like symptoms but it was not actually stasis, but a very rare bacteria shutting…

When I was a bunny noob, I didn’t realize the importance of spaying buns. I had a couple of girls who lived between 8-9 years old, but I’m not entirely sure if they died of cancer or not (although I suspect it in at least 1). Like LBJ said, you may want to talk to…
  • Reply To: Concerns About Unspayed Rabbits - LBJ10 01/29/2026 01:17 AM
Some unspayed rabbits do live longer. The chance of reproductive cancer is high, but that doesn’t mean all unspayed rabbits will die from cancer. You will read different ranges online, and this is due to differences in breeds. Some breeds are more prone to cancer than others so the stats you see are often averages.…

Posting this here since House Rabbit Q and A doesn’t seem to be working for me. I have not been on here in a few years, but I have two bonded Lionhead and Jersey Wooly mixes who are 5 years old, 6 in April. I have had them since they were several weeks old and…

My boy slept a lot as he got older. It was always so sweet seeing him passed out in the hay. I think some of it can be age-related, but if you think Nellie needs a higher dose of pain meds then you could look into that to see if that changes anything.
