I’m trying to talk my parents in to washing the bunnies blankets and I was wondering if laundry detergent is safe. What my parents use is Tide free and gentle laundry pods and I’ve seen people use Arm&Hammer but there have been people saying not to use laundry detergent since it’s unsafe and they use vinegar instead. Is this one of those controversy topics that has a million different opinions or is it really unsafe? Thanks in advance!

I don’t think dye and fragrance free detergent is harmful. At least not in washing something your bunny may come in contact with goes. You could rinse twice on the laundry cycle too, just to make sure it’s all gone. But personally, I wouldn’t worry about it.

I agree with LBJ10, I wouldn’t worry about it at all. I think it’s best to avoid strong fragrances as those could be irritating to a bun, but I also know people who just use regular Tide for their bun’s blankets and the buns don’t seem to care either way. I currently use All free and Clear, in the past I used a Costco-brand “natural” one. I’m sure the Tide free and clear you are currently using is fine. I do add vinegar to all of my wash as well as I think it helps things get cleaner, but I don’t think washing with vinegar alone would work very well.
